Well, this was an unexpected thing to crawl its way into my head, and it took me all night to make it.
I was inspired by Michaelsalas on DeviantArt, with whom I roleplayed a little bit in the comments of my last Kitty x Dulcinea post. I don't know, but somewhere in the comments, he threw in Gidget from The Secret Life of Pets, and it was really cute because it dawned on me that Gidget has really great friendship chemistry with both Kitty and Dulcinea.
So here is my modern AU edit of Kitty, Dulcinea, and Gidget~
(Gidget is an anthro in this universe, and Kitty and Dulcinea are the same cat-height they normally are, so that makes Gidget a shorty.)
Kitty and Dulcinea are lovers living in an apartment in San Fransokyo. Dulcinea works at the library and reads to children. Kitty used to live on the wrong side of the tracks and steal whatever she was hired to steal. Gidget, on the other hand, is the adopted daughter of a wealthy couple and is tired of her sheltered lifestyle, so she convinces her parents to let her see what it's like to live on her own in the real world.
Kitty and Dulcinea are having a hard time keeping up with their rent and bills, so they put out an ad looking for a roommate to help relieve their stress. Our girl, Gidget, just so happened to stumble on their ad.
So Gidget answered their ad, and they accepted her as their new roommate. Things go along well and are pretty great between them. Gidget can't help but notice what a cute couple her new roommates are. She kind of wishes she had what they have and wonders if she'll ever have it.
(I wish Gidget had a more defined neck and shoulders, but it's the best I could do.)
Does anyone remember those ROTBTD Modern AU edits that used to pop up everywhere? Well, those were also the inspirations for this edit.
