James exhaled slowly, reaching out—just barely brushing his fingers over Regulus' wrist. It was a ghost of a touch, but he felt the way Regulus’ breath hitched, the way his pulse quickened beneath his skin. Got you. Regulus swallowed, tilting his chin up in defiance. “You don’t scare me.” James leaned in, just enough that their breaths mingled. “I don’t need to.” The tension stretched between them, electric and suffocating. Then—Regulus moved. But not away. No, he grabbed James by the collar, yanking him forward—and for a single, fleeting second, James thought—finally— But Regulus didn’t kiss him. He shoved him. James barely had time to react before his back slammed into the stone railing, knocking the breath from his lungs. Regulus stood over him, eyes sharp as daggers. “You want me to give in?” Regulus murmured, voice ice-cold. “You think you have control?” He leaned down, lips just barely brushing James’ ear. “You’re the one who’s obsessed.” James' breath caught. Regulus straightened, smoothing out his shirt like nothing had happened. “Stay away from me, Potter.” Then, without another word, he turned and walked away. Leaving James sprawled against the railing—speechless. And maybe, just maybe, a little terrified.

yes, soon!! the next chapter is 4,600 words and climbing, I'm currently debating just ending it now or writing another like,,, 20%. I think it'll be out by the end of the weekend though, since I have Monday off :D
