倩女幽魂 / A Chinese Ghost Story (Siu-Tung Ching, 1987) Review: 8/10 A Chinese Ghost Story tells us the story of a tax collector Ning Choi-san (Leslie Cheung). Ning Choi-san is unable to afford an inn, so he spends the night in an abandoned temple, where he encounters a beautiful female ghost, Nip Siu-sin (Joey Wong). A long of things happen that night which leads to the next day. Ning and Nip falls in love. He then learns that she is to be married to an ancient demon in three days time. Ning decides to free Nip from the demon with the help of alcoholic ghost hunter Yin (Wu Ma). This is an Hong Kong eighties movie. Very well produced and directed. This film moves from action to comedy and then from Horror to romance. For the fuck sake there are zombies in this film. Who needs love. You can find any genre in this film. There is also musical in this film. There is a scene where Yin is drunk and he raps about Taoism. Mind you! The background score and the music is beautiful. Nip Siu-sin (Joey Wong) has a very creepy seducing music and trust me it gave me so much chills. The fact that this is an eighties movie and we get so much is really great. An Hong Kong classic. A Chinese Ghost Story was not only a huge hit in Hong Kong and but also in the rest of Asia. This film is very well produced and directed. The cinematography is excellent. Not to forget the production design is beyond amazing. #AChineseGhostStory #LeslieCheung #JoeyWong #wuma #TsuiHark #HongKongmovie #film #cinema #favorites #sienluiyauwan #倩女幽魂 #siutungching #hongkong #hk #hkig #Horror #Classicmovies #review #asianmovies https://www.instagram.com/p/B9eB-jjgIcN/?igshid=3u8udv25sokp
