✧ summary: mornings in your home are loud, messy, and full of stubborn arguments—but with katsuki cradling your toddler against his chest and grumbling about how you’ve ruined him, you can’t imagine a love more perfect than this.

The sound of quick, clumsy footsteps pulls you from sleep before Katsuki’s voice does.
“Oi! Get back here, you little menace!” It’s not anger, not really—just Katsuki’s usual brand of bark that always hides something softer. You sit up just in time to see him in the hallway, hair sticking up wildly, shirt askew, holding your squirming toddler like a football.
“No!” the toddler shouts, tiny fists thumping against his chest.
“Yes,” Katsuki fires back instantly, lips twitching despite the scowl on his face. “Think you can win against me? Dream on, brat.”
The toddler squeals with laughter, and you can see the exact moment Katsuki’s facade cracks. His mouth softens into a smirk, and his eyes—bright and molten—shine with nothing but love.
He notices you staring. “What the hell are you grinning at, huh?” he mutters, but the hand rubbing slow circles on the toddler’s back betrays him.
“Just my two favorite people,” you say, voice still sleepy, still warm.
Katsuki’s ears turn pink, but he doesn’t argue. He stalks into the bedroom, dropping down beside you on the bed with a grunt. The toddler scrambles onto your lap before immediately reaching back for Katsuki, and he sighs like it’s the most exhausting thing in the world—but he scoops them up anyway, settling the small body against his chest.
“Don’t get used to this,” he mumbles, pressing his nose into the toddler’s hair. “Daddy’s not a damn pillow.” But his lips brush the crown of their head right after, the gentlest kiss you’ve ever seen him give.
You watch, heart aching in that way only Katsuki can cause. He’s still him—still loud, still stubborn, still quick to bark—but there’s something else too. Something sweeter.
“You’re a good dad,” you whisper before you can stop yourself.
His head snaps toward you, eyes wide like you’ve just hurled a grenade at him. “The hell kinda sappy shit—” He cuts himself off when he sees the look on your face. Serious. Soft. Sure.
“You are,” you insist. “And a good husband.”
His scowl falters, and his jaw clenches like the words are too big for him to hold. Finally, he sighs, shaking his head. “Tch… you’re such a pain.” He reaches over, grabbing your hand beneath the blanket, squeezing it tight. “But you’re my pain.” His voice lowers, gentler now. “Wouldn’t trade this for anything. You, the kid… all of it. It’s mine. Got it?”
Your throat tightens. He doesn’t say I love you often, but you hear it anyway—in every syllable.
The toddler wiggles, babbling nonsense, and Katsuki kisses them again, quick and clumsy like he hopes you won’t notice. When he leans back against the headboard, you curl against his side, your head fitting perfectly on his shoulder. His arm wraps around you both, protective, grounding.
“Y’know,” he murmurs after a moment, eyes fixed on the sleepy toddler in his arms, “I thought I’d be a shit dad. Didn’t think I had it in me.” His voice cracks on the edges of honesty he usually hides. “But then you went and proved me wrong again, like you always do.”
You tilt your head, pressing a kiss to his jaw. “That’s because you’re better than you think you are.”
Katsuki exhales sharply, like he’s holding back a dozen emotions at once. His lips brush the top of your head, lingering there. “Don’t go sayin’ things like that first thing in the morning. Gonna ruin me, dumbass.”
The toddler yawns, tiny hands fisting in his shirt, and Katsuki smiles—an unguarded, tired, ridiculously tender smile. “Guess I win again.” he whispers, voice so soft you almost don’t catch it.
And this time, when you kiss his cheek, he doesn’t even try to hide the blush.

The raid was already hell. The building shook with every blow, walls splitting open, floors collapsing under the sheer force of the heroes pushing their way in. You’d been in fights before, but this was different. This wasn’t some stupid hero who was barely trained. This was real—messy, brutal, and relentless.
You kept close to him. Always at his side, like you had been since the beginning. It wasn’t loyalty, not really. More like survival. Two people clawing their way through the same battlefield, bound together by blood and necessity. Romantic feelings? Who knows. You always thought of him as more but could never say anything.
“Stay sharp,” he muttered, eyes never leaving the path ahead. His voice was steady, clipped. He always sounded like that—cold, detached, like nothing could rattle him.
But you could see the tension in his shoulders. He knew what was coming. So did you.
The crash of rubble drew your attention, and then he was there—the kid, Deku. His fists glowed with power, eyes burning with something you’d never seen in your world: conviction and pure unbridled rage. He had Eri clutched to his chest, holding her like she was something fragile, something worth bleeding for.
Your stomach turned. Because you knew how this would end, and there was nothing going to be able to stop it.
The fight blurred—shouts, impacts, the earth breaking apart under quirk against quirk. You moved without thinking, intercepting blows that would’ve taken him out, your body a shield against a storm you couldn’t hold back forever. Every strike rattled your bones, every impact sent fire down your nerves, but you stayed on your feet.
You had to.
Then it came—the hit you couldn’t block. Deku’s fist connected squarely with your ribs, and it felt like a hammer shattering glass. Bone snapped like brittle sticks, jagged edges tearing through muscle and lung. You were airborne for a second before slamming into the wall, your back cracking against the stone hard enough to rattle your teeth. The breath was driven from your chest in a wet, choking gasp, and when you coughed, dark blood splattered across the floor.
Somewhere above you, his voice cut through. “Get up.”
You tried. God, you tried. Your arms trembled violently as you pressed them into the broken tile, pushing yourself up. Blood dripped from your lips in thick strings, painting your chin and throat. Every breath whistled and gurgled in your chest—collapsed lung, puncture wounds—you knew it in the way each inhale burned like fire. But you staggered to your feet anyway, body swaying, vision spotted.
You planted yourself in front of him again, even as the kid’s next strike gathered force.
“Stay down.” His tone was sharp, harsher than usual. Not cold this time—afraid. He sounded like something just snapped inside of him. That something finally made him scared.
But you didn’t. You couldn’t.
Deku lunged, his fist wrapped in air pressure strong enough to warp the ground. You moved, not to attack but to shield, and the blow caught you head-on.
It was worse than the first. His knuckles dug deep into your sternum, crushing cartilage and splintering bone. You felt your ribs give way completely, the jagged ends driving into soft tissue. A sickening crack-pop rang in your ears as one of them punctured your other lung. Pain tore through you so sharp you couldn’t even scream—just a strangled sound that sprayed blood across the floor.
Your body folded around the impact before it was hurled back again, slamming into the floor hard enough to crater it. The force split skin along your side, and you felt warmth gush out in pulses—arterial. You knew that kind of bleeding. You’d seen it in others. There wasn’t coming back from that at all. There was nothing you could do.
You tried to breathe, but every inhale rattled and bubbled, blood rising fast in your throat. You coughed, and thick clots spilled down your chin. Your fingers clawed at the ground, desperate to rise again, but your chest wouldn’t respond. Your legs twitched, spasmed, then went limp.
You saw him. His mask half-shattered, his eyes wide in a way you’d never seen. And then his hands—bare—grabbing you.
“Don’t,” you croaked, choking on blood. “It’s… it’s done.”
“Shut up.” His voice was ragged, hoarse, nothing like the calculated tone you knew. “You’re not—fuck—don’t talk like that.”
You coughed again, red froth spilling over your lips. You managed a whisper between the gurgles, blood pouring from your mouth like water. “You hate… touching people.”
His hands pressed harder, quirk flaring, but the wounds were too many. Too deep. Your chest was a ruined cage, your lungs drowning in your own blood. He couldn’t put that back together. No one could.
“I told you to stay down,” he muttered, his voice shaking, as if he was trying to rewrite reality through sheer will. “You should’ve stayed down.”
“I couldn’t,” you whispered, your voice wet and fading. Your lungs were filling faster now—every breath drowned itself. You coughed again, the sound weak, dying. “Not… if it meant you.”
Your head lolled back, the world darkening at the edges. Your last smile was broken, blood-stained, but it was yours. “Guess you’ll… handle the mess without me.” You choked on blood, trying to speak one last time. “Please, take care of yourself.”
“Don’t." His voice cracked open, raw. “Don’t you fucking dare.”
But your chest gave one last shudder. Then it stilled.
Silence.
For a moment, all he did was stare, his hands clamped on your destroyed chest as if pressure could restart a dead heart. His breathing turned ragged, his body trembling. And then a sound ripped out of him, torn straight from the gut—rage, grief, something unrecognizable. He clutched you tighter, the blood soaking through his clothes, through his skin, through everything.
Around him, the battle raged on. Heroes closed in, his empire crumbling, Eri free. Deku getting ready to kill him too. None of it mattered.
The only person who had stood at his side bled out in his arms, body broken beyond repair. And for the first time, the man who believed he could put anything back together understood the truth: death couldn’t be undone. Not with his hands. Not with his power. Not with anything.

The door slammed behind you, rattling the frame. You didn’t even get your shoes off before Atsumu’s voice cut through the apartment.
“Unbelievable. Ya really couldn’t bother showin’ up to my game tonight?”
You froze, turning to see him on the couch, arms thrown over the back like he’d been waiting just to start this. His jaw was tight, hair damp from a quick shower, but his eyes burned with anger.
“I told you I had work,” you muttered, setting your bag down.
“Work, work, work. That’s all I hear,” he snapped, standing up fast. “What, yer job’s more important than me? Than my career? Than everythin’ I’ve been bustin’ my ass for?”
Your stomach twisted, but you shot back just as sharp. “Don't you dare, Atsumu. I cannot believe your mad that I didn't come to one stupid game. I'm not gonna orbit around your games all the time. I actually HAVE a job.”
“Stupid—?!” His voice cracked like a whip. “It ain’t stupid! It’s my whole damn life! But ya wouldn’t get it, ‘cause ya only care when it’s convenient for ya.”
Your blood boiled. You stepped up to him, chest to chest, your finger poking hard into his chest. “I care about you every single damn day, Atsumu. Don’t act like I don’t at all. If you think I’m gonna beg for forgiveness just because I couldn’t make it to one game, you’re out of your damn mind.”
His hands balled into fists at his sides, eyes flashing, mouth opening—then shutting again when he realized how close you were. The fury between you hung heavy, so close you could feel his breath on your lips.
For a moment, neither of you moved. Then his voice dropped, low and ragged.
“Yer mouth never fuckin' stops, does it? Maybe I should just… shut it for ya.”
And before you could fire back, he grabbed your face and crashed his lips onto yours.
It wasn’t sweet. It wasn’t gentle. It was a collision, rough and hungry, teeth clashing, breath stolen right out of your chest. You shoved at his chest once, furious, but his hand only slid to your waist, dragging you against him like he was starving for you.
You bit his lip in defiance; he groaned into your mouth, deepening the kiss, pushing you back until your spine hit the wall. His tongue slid past your lips, swallowing the angry sound you tried to make, until the only thing left between you was heat and need.
His hands roamed—one tangled in your hair, the other gripping your hip hard enough to bruise. You clutched his shirt like it was the only thing keeping you standing, kissing him back with all the fire you’d been throwing at him seconds ago.
When he finally pulled back, both of you gasping, his forehead pressed against yours. His voice was hoarse, broken with breath:
“I hate fightin’ with ya… but God, I can’t stop wantin’ ya.”
You panted, lips swollen, your glare softened but not gone. “You’re an asshole.”
A crooked, breathless grin tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Good. Means I get to kiss ya again.”
And he did—harder this time.

Tooru was in his room laying down on his phone from just waking up, and then thought about a certain someone again while scrolling through his photos, and tears formed in his eyes. He wiped his eyes, and changed out of his pajamas. He went downstairs, and slipped on his shoes. He then got into his car, and got on the road. He drove to a flower shop, and picked up roses. Then he drove for about thirty-minutes, and got to his destination.
He parked his car, and looked at the place ahead of him. It was a graveyard. Tears were streaming down his face, as he thought about her. He made his way to a grave. Looking down at it, he got on one knee, and placed down the roses.
“It’s been a pretty long time since we’ve seen each other, right sweetheart?” He asked, and smiled as he sobbed.
“I wish I could talk to you, just pull a chair right up and next to you, and talk to you. I wish we could go on a ride one more time, and see the ocean like we did every summer.” He said. Tooru let out a little laugh, and cried more.
“Why’d you think to do it? You know, I was there. I was always gonna be there for you, I guess it doesn’t necessarily matter now, right?” He quietly asked, and wiped some of his tears away.
Tooru grieved as he looked more at the grave. His voice became wobbly, and he stuttered on a lot of words. “You’re in my head more often than I want. I really wanna talk to you. I miss you so much. I love you more – more than words could ever form fast enough. I miss whenever you would be doing your makeup in your room, and I would have to wait in the living room for the grand reveal. I miss when you would give me that beautiful smile every time you did something you were proud of. I miss your cute voice, I play it to myself when I think about you. I miss your adorable messages you would send me when I would get home from volleyball practice.”
He started to bawl his eyes out, and couldn’t even speak. He then finally formed the courage to speak again. “We were only – in high school, why’d you have to leave then? We were gonna grow old together, and have kids. I promised to make you my wife. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you when you needed me, my love. I’m so sorry. I wish you would’ve told me what you were going through, so I could've helped you.”
“It's been 5 years, and I still can’t get over you. I don’t want to get over you though. You were all I wanted, and I hope you know that. We were so young. You were only 15.” He told the grave as he messed with his hair, wishing it was her messing around with his brown hair.
Tooru kept speaking, and weeping to the grave full of flowers and other items he’s given to her grave as he visited. Some were from others, and he smiled as he pulled one of the flower petals off, and put it on her gravestone.
The talking went on for 3 hours, as he talked about his day, and other things that have happened through the week, and month. Tooru didn’t come to see her for quite some time, since he tried to accept that she was no longer here. He had to think about the good things, like that she was in a better place now. Then he finished speaking. He smiled as he placed a kiss on his hand, and put his hand on her beautiful grave. “I’ll see you again, I love you so much.” He muttered his goodbyes, then got up off his knee, and walked back to his car.
Tooru drove home for another 30 minutes, and parked his car. He walked into his house. He took off his shoes, and then went to his room. He sat on his bed and called Iwaizumi.
Iwaizumi then picked up his phone, and spoke. “Hey, what's up –” Then he stopped as he heard crying in the background.
“Hey! What’s wrong? Are you alright?” Iwaizumi asked as he heard it got louder and louder.
“I just went – to see her, that's all. I wanted to call you and just talk, you know?” Tooru answered, and started to wipe up his tears and snot. Iwaizumi knew exactly who that "her" was,
“Iwa, I..I miss her – so much. I can’t even think.” He murmured as his voice was full of sadness.
“I know, I know. Listen, It may not sound like I miss her, but I miss her so much. She was one of my best friends on this entire fucking planet and I couldn’t believe it when I got the call. I cried all night. I understand what you're going through. Maybe not all of it, but to an extent I understand.” Iwaizumi responded, his voice cracking.
“Do you want me to come over? I don’t want you to feel like this at all. I want you to be happy, excited, and not thinking about it. I want you to be okay.” Iwaizumi asked him in a brittle voice, and waited for a response.
“Please do. I need someone right now, and I want that someone to be you.” Tooru responded, and tried to stop crying.
“Okay, I’ll make my way over now. Don’t do any dumb shit, you hear me?” He told Tooru, and hung up.
Tooru then got up and made his way to his bathroom and washed his face. His eyes were all puffy and red, and his nose was red as well. He dried off his face and hands and then went downstairs to his living room.
He grabbed two blankets, grabbed some snacks, and set the snack down on the table in front of the couch. Tooru laid under a blanket as he scrolled on his phone, awaiting Iwaizumis arrival.
Tooru then heard a knock at his front door, and got up to answer it. When he opened the door, he saw Iwaizumi. “Hey!” He said, trying to sound as happy as possible, but it came out nervously.
Iwaizumi walked in the house, and Tooru sat back down and grabbed the hot chocolate he made for himself. “I made you coffee, it's still being made though. Thank you for coming over, Iwa.” He told Iwaizumi, and he just nodded.
“It's really no problem. Do you want me to stay the night? Or just leave when it gets a bit late?” Iwaizumi asked, a bit concerned since he noticed that Toorus face is all puffy..
“I don’t mind, it's not like we're kids anymore, Iwa!” Tooru laughed, and smiled at Iwaizumi, who went over to the coffee pot and grabbed his coffee. He put sugar and cream in it as per usual, and went over to the couch, and sat down next to Tooru.
“I mean, yeah. But I know you want your space sometimes. I obviously do a lot.” He told him, and drank his coffee. Iwaizumi then turned on the TV and put his coffee down on the alien themed coaster on the table.
“Do you wanna watch an alien movie? I know those cheer you up, since you're a weird space freak. When did that even start, Trashykawa?” He asked, and it earned a fast nod from Tooru.
“It started in middle school, I thought you knew this! And you're my ‘best friend’, mhm! Oh yeah, you know so much about me!” Tooru joked in a sarcastic tone, and giggled.
“Turn on the first one, it's my favorite.” He told Iwaizumi, and he did so.
They watched a couple as it got deeper into the day as they binged, and played games after. They spent the whole day together, and then Iwazumi made dinner, knowing Toorus house like the back of his hand. Tooru was the first to sit down.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what provoked you to go see her?” Iwaizumi asked in a confused tone, then sat down at the dinner table. “I mean -- you don’t really need to have a reason to see her at all but, I just wanted to ask.”
Tooru looked at Iwaizumi, and his breathing became a bit unsteady. His voice was a bit brittle, and tiny tears formed in his eyes. “I saw some pictures and decided to go see her. I grabbed her flowers as well. I stayed for 3 hours. It was worth every second, as always.” He ranted a bit to Iwaizumi as he ate his dinner. “I miss her a lot.” His voice started to go to a low, and quiet tone.
Iwaizumi looked at him and his heart sank. He hated seeing his best friend like this. “I know. I miss her too. We’ll see her in the future, I’m sure of it. When the right time comes, all of us will be together again. I promise.” He told him, as he finished up eating, and put his dish in the sink.
After Tooru was done eating, he did the same. They then just went back to watching movies till Iwaizumi dozed off. Tooru was slightly awake. He then turned off the TV, and laid down on the couch as well. He then got all in his mind, “I wish I could talk to you.” He thought over and over again, then fell asleep with a tear rolling down his face.
