Floyd x Riddle relationship headcanons

OKAY omg this is another of my favorite ships so I have a lot to say about it!!! Probably some day I'll do like an actual list of canon moments that make me like it, but for now I'll try to limit myself only to headcanons.

How did it all start? Well, we know that they had a litttle "encounter" at their first entrance ceremony. In case someone isn't too familiar with this personal story, it basically goes that Floyd caused a fuss which ended with him getting blasted across the room by Riddle. At that point he made a comment about how he was surprised by Riddle's magical strength, which didn't match his looks, and says that he admires him. We also know that he has always been very captivated by Riddle's red hair and called him "Goldfish". So, I'm not going to say that he started liking him romantically from this moment, but of course this was what piqued his interest and made Riddle his favorite target to annoy.

Continuing from that, I feel a little bad saying it, because Riddle is my favorite character, but I can't really blame Floyd… I mean, his reactions are really funny! He always gets red, like a real goldfish. Maybe if he didn't react like that Floyd would leave him alone, but nobody tell him because I want to keep seeing their banters~ And going back to the red hair and face, there is a theory going around there that the reason why Floyd is so attracted to Riddle is because red isn't actually visible underwater so it would be the first time he saw such a bright color! There are other ocassions where he talks about liking that color, like when choosing a tent in Vargas Camp. I really like that theory and have incorporated it into my headcanons. It's a bit similar to Riddle being mesmerized by the bright red of strawberries, and I find that really cute.

I could go on about why they're so good for each other, like their complementing personalities. I really think they balance each other perfectly and that would help both of them grow as people, you know? But I think that again strays into analyzing canon territory and not really headcanon, so I'll refrain. I will mention, however, that I think this would play an important part in making them realize that they enjoy each other's company more than they initially thought, as they find themselves actually getting used to the other (Floyd making Riddle go out of his comfort zone, Riddle helping Floyd stay in line, etc).

It's kind of obvious but I think the first to fall in love and also the first to notice would be Floyd. He might be an asshole sometimes but he's definitely more emotionally aware than Riddle, that poor repressed boy. He would have to fight his inner demons before accepting his growing feelings lol. At first, Floyd would probably think of it as a random crush, mostly physical attraction. Of course, Riddle is really cute, why wouldn't he like him? Being as he is, he would probably act impulsively on his feelings, making Riddle really upset, not the kind of upset where his face gets red and it's funny. Floyd would be left there in a bad mood, and after it doesn't go away after a few days, he begins to wonder why he actually cares about how Riddle feels. Riddle, on the other hand, would probably become more aware of Floyd in a different way than before (boy is having gay panic), and start acting more stiff around him.

After a while, things would slowly go back to normal, except that they're both aware that the air around them is different. They would start to notice little things about each other that they hadn't before, and start appreciating each other more. Floyd would probably become unconsciously a little softer in his playing with Riddle (both physically and verbally), not wanting to hurt him again, and he starts getting collared les often. At that point Riddle would start considering that maybe Floyd isn't as bad as he thought, and would start being able to explore his own feelings towards the boy! Considering everything else I've said, this would happen around the end of their second year or the star of the third so they would both be more mature too, having dealt with an overblot and a friend's overblot in each's case.

Oooh when they're both aware of their feelings? In order to make their relationship formal, there are probably a lot of rules stating how to do it properly. Of course, the Crimson Tyrant isn't as obsessed with rules as before, but he wants a nice gentleman to court him! Floyd would try to make any advance and he would stop him. I don't think Riddle would actually say anything, because that would be like confessing himself! And he's too prideful for that. But he would give indirect messages lol. You can do it Floyd, you just have to solve a few riddles!

Poor Floyd would be having an existencial crisis, what does Riddle WANT? He would go to Azul and Jade for advice. It's not boring at all though, at this point they're just flirting back and forth, and the relationship is already there, everyone else can see it, but Riddle wants Floyd to do it right. The confession would probably involve red roses, as per Rose Queendom tradition, but I think Floyd would manage to merge a bit of Coral Sea traditions as well.

During their third year then, their relationship would already be established, and they would have in-campus dates, as well as some off-campus during weekends. Said dates would involve having tea at the Heartslabyul gardens, having dinner at Mostro Lounge, going to each other's clubs… At the horseback riding club Riddle would want to give Floyd a ride on Vorpal, and I think Floyd would actually enjoy the thrill of it, while Riddle would like being in control for once lol. Then Floyd would want Riddle to go cheer for him during basketball games. Riddle would go but wouldn't do anything too flashy, but just him being there makes Floyd way more motivated to play well, knowing how his mood swings are.

On their fourth year, I'm not too sure on where they would go, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Floyd chose to follow Riddle, he's a free spirit like that. I wasn't sure when to mention this but it is also shown in canon that out of the Octavinelle trio Floyd is the one that is more comfortable on land and air.

Now, what about after NRC? Well, I think they would definitely live on land and not under the sea. As I said previously, Floyd lives more freely; Riddle still has trouble changing things that he's so used to. Of course they would go visit the Coral Sea during vacations, but would spend most of the year on the surface. Probably in the Rose Queendom, but definitely not in Riddle's hometown. It would be hard for him to confront his mother but sooner or later he would have to do it, and I think after graduation would be a good time for that. I don't think they'd completely cut ties, though, like most people envision it. I think he could keep a healthy distance from her, but he admires her too much; he could never hate her (but Floyd surely does, and it's mutual lol).

Malleus x Cater relationship headcanons

Definitely an interesting relationship, given that there is such a contrast between the two, at least at first. Since they aren't very close, they would probably start by seeking each other in the middle of crowds. Especially Cater, since, well, Malleus stands up a lot from the rest. Just by his height, the horns adorning his head, and obviously the title of being the heir to the throne of his nation. It would probably start as pure curiosity, maybe with a little admiration. Everyone talks about Malleus so Cater has for sure heard some stories about him. Meanwhile, Cater might be popular in social media and amongst his classmates, but these types of rumors don't reach Malleus; most of his knowledge comes from Lilia being the ginger's club mate. He probably wouldn't think much of him, just an energetic kid in a school full of rowdy boys -one of the bunch.

However, when interacting during their 3rd year, he would probably start feeling some kind of affinity for the kid. First, the way Cater was never afraid to talk to him like the majority of other students. Although he managed to touch a nerve on ocassion, with his unfiltered comments, Malleus still found his reckless nature interesting. Cater would seek him out here and there, trying to take a pic with him; even if it was to show him off to others, Malleus started enjoying the chase, since it gave a bit of color to his dull daily life. Just like the boy himself, radiant with his bright personality, in contrast to his own more reserved nature.

As he observed him more and more, he started to wonder how come the other always wanted to spend so much time with him, given that he must have lots of other friends… right? Unless… when they started talking more and more, he realized that maybe they weren't so different after all. As they kept meeting each other, Cater began to feel more comfortable with Malleus to open up about those parts of him that he didn't like other seeing; and Malleus, finally starting to see more than just the façade he put up, felt like now they were on the same wavelength and could understand each other more.

Without even noticing, Malleus was the one to fall first for Cater. Looking forward to every interaction, he didn't even realize these were romantic feelings. As for Cater, I think the idea wouldn't even cross his mind until the other unconsciously started standing closer to him, sometimes patting him on the shoulder and his hand lingering there a bit too long… So Cater would be the first to notice his own feelings because he has more experience with these matters. And I think he would start feeling really insecure and maybe even guilty? Like, he just got to befriend the coolest guy in campus and now he's ruining it with a stupid crush… So he would distance himself until he "gets over it".

Cue, Malleus also feeling bad because he doesn't understand what he did wrong since their friendship was flowing smoothly. And so, he consults Lilia, telling him about all of their interactions until now. The older fae then snickers and explains to him what this all means, and that possibly his club mate likes him too, which leads to operation confession. Next day, after classes finished, Malleus seeks Cater who, at the sight of him, tries to flee; but obviously Malleus has the higher up in anything physical, and quickly reaches him, grabbing him by the wrist and taking him to somewhere more private. He's very direct with his feelings and… maybe a bit too much, because given his status, Malleus is already thinking of marrying, not dating. Cater is caught so off-guard, he tells Malleus he has to think about it. After some discussion, they agree to have a "courting period", during which Cater falls more in love with the dragon and finally agrees to date him with the intention of marrying him ><

OKAY I derailed a lot talking about how they became a couple because given the nature of both characters I think it would take a while for them to open up!!! Headcanons? idk her, I just wrote a whole fic. But now onto the category of during the relationship.

So, I remember you mentioned the trope of "culture shock" with these two. Since they're from very different countries, with different customs, it would definitely be something that comes up rather often, especially at the beginning of a relationship. However, while thinking about this, more than the customs from each motherland, I think it's really funny to explore the whole old victorian man x chronically online teenager dynamic lmao. I mean, before starting the relationship, Cater had already more or less explained to Malleus what Magicam was and why he wanted a pic with him, but it still confuses him from time to time, and it's not the only thing. Obviously, the language is different; sometimes Lilia needs to act as a translator.

Aside from that, they would probably enjoy going on dates to cafés and such, since its #cammable for Cater, and Malleus kind of has a sweet tooth to eat whatever Cater doesn't like and only ordered for the #aesthetic lol. However, it would probably be a bit difficult to go unnoticed. Maybe they can book a more private part of the cafés, so they don't have to give explanations about what's a future king doing hanging out with a Magicam celebrity. I mean, sooner or later they'll come out to the public, but they want to enjoy their date in peace!

After having something to eat, they could promenade around the more antique places of town, where luckily there's also less people, and have Malleus explain all of the details about the architecture to his boyfriend, who listens to him while taking pics of all the cool gargoyles they see, especially the dragon themed ones.

And I like to think that before their 4th year at NRC Malleus would propose to Cater, so even when they're away doing their internships, they would both have a ring to remind each other the presence of their love <3

For the Valentine's day special: Silkali? 👀

Silver x Kalim relationship headcanons

Possibly the only healthy relationship in TWST. I think it would be really chill and fluffy, although there's of course angst potential once the relationship develops more, but at the beginning it would be all rainbows and flowers.

Both of them are friends already so it would probably take some time for them to realize that their feelings are something more than purely platonic. It goes without saying that it would probably take Jamil and Lilia's help for them to get together. The latter would be very happy to see his little boy grown up and having a teenage crush, meanwhile the former would be suffering from having to see Kalim being even more of a mess from having his head in the clouds.

I think they would fall for each other more or less at the same time, but Silver would notice first, if Lilia telling him counts as noticing, because the old man is already experienced and knows what love looks like. Jamil would maybe take a bit more time before losing his patience since he's used to Kalim and probably wouldn't notice such a subtle change. This said, it would probably be Kalim who confesses. I think Silver would be fine just acknowledging his feelings but not doing anything in regards to them, while Kalim needs to have a grand celebration for such an ocassion.

Despite this, I think Kalim would be aware that some people are more introverted and might prefer something more lowkey; he has more emotional intelligence than some people give him credits for :') So the confession would be something flashy but private, for example, a magic carpet ride <3 Silver would be more than happy to know they both feel the same way and accept his feelings. When he goes back to his dorm, he doesn't even need to tell Lilia because he can already see it in his face. Same with Kalim, who's flashing a big smile, but he does tell Jamil anyway.

During the relationship they would probably behave more or less the same way that they did before lol but trying to find more free spots in their schedules to spend time together. Sometimes, as an excuse to see each other, they would visit each other in their club activities. Since Kalim gets along with animals pretty well, Silver could teach him a bit about horseback riding, or just take him on a ride on his own horse to pay back the magic carpet ride haha (they would have to do it subtly while Sebek and Riddle aren't looking, but once they get far into the woods they could have some private time). As for Silver visiting the light music club, it would be less private since it's inside a classroom and his own father is there, but after the practice is over, they could stay for a bit longer and play some songs on a recorder and messily dance together.

I also like to think they would have outdoors dates like picnics uwu yes when I said rainbows and flowers I meant it literally lmao, Kalim can even create rainbows with his water magic if it's sunny. And the calm atmosphere would probably lull Silver to sleep, so Kalim would take care of him, brushing his hair now and then and taking the leaves that fall off his face. Small animals would gather around them and just stay there (maybe eating some of the leftover food too lol). When waking up, Silver would apologize but Kallim says that he doesn't mind it anyway; he can appreciate some quieter moments in the middle of his hectic life.

I think I could go on but I feel like I wrote a lot already ^^" as you know, I really like this ship but I want to write for others too so I'll leave it at that~ Still if you or anyone replies with more stuff about them, I might keep replying with more hc's lol we'll see. Rook x Vil

Rook x Vil relationship headcanons

Waah ok, so this is my absolute favorite ship from TWST but it's a bit tricky bc they pretty much already act like a married couple xD (to me). I think they would be the kind of friends that people would be like "so when did you two start going out?" and they'd be like "we're not dating?" lol.

aNWAY, I think Rook would have 100% fallen for Vil at first sight, but he wouldn't even be aware of it! I know it sounds unlike Rook since he's such a romantic and he's in touch with his feelings and all that, but I mean, he's a little bit in love with everyone and everything in life, so he would just pass it off as one of his admirations of beauty.

But yeah, the idea of,,, just Savanaclaw Rook being SO infatuated with this boy orz … the fact that he was like "fuck the mirror I'll transfer to Pomefiore"and and adn he entered the science club to get better at potionology and thus be a better companion for Vil!!! I seriously can't. Bro atp I'm not even saying headcanons, it's just canon bye.

So when becoming second years, he's changed dorms and he just kind of leaves himself up to Vil? The (soon to be?) dorm leader being like "to be here you have to dress and groom yourself accordingly" and Rook is like "okay, whatever you say <3" and he probably cut his hair himself and all but idc I like to imagine that Vil did it and he taught him to use makeup and !!! just like the physical intimacy and Rook being vulnerable when he always puts up a front with everyone else aaa 😭 i'm deceased.

And Vil too!!! He always strives for perfection, never allowing himself to be less -must be quite tiring! So Rook being the only one in front of whom he can actually relax 🥺 At first he would hate it, I think it would go like, Rook saying something silly (in the sense of… something so Rook-like, you know? praising something really mundane for its beauty lol) and Vil would laugh. Maybe even snort. It would be so natural and he woulnd't even notice it, but when Rook stops talking (when does he ever?) he turns to face him and sees the hunter staring back at him. That's when he realizes his mistake, he let his guard fall! He probably blushes and covers his face with his hand (what if there are some wrinkles from such an unsightly laugh?), but Rook would catch his hand telling him not to hide!!! That's the most beautiful he's ever been ><

It would take a time for Vil to trust Rook this way, but when getting used to it I think it would be so cute… He probably still catches Rook gazing at him so lovingly in such moments, which makes him bashful, but he can't say he hates it anymore. After all, he embraces the adoration the other has for him, even if incomprehensible to him in such moments.

Overall, I think this relationship would stand on a base of mutual trust, even unspoken a lot of times. They just connect that way, communicating with their eyes, not needing words (although Rook will definitely say them anyway lol). As for Vil… he's a bit of a tsundere, let's be honest. He knows Rook understands him without having to tell him, but still, he realizes that it's somehow unfair on his side so he will now and then say some sweet words that his vice will treasure forever in his heart.

With all that said, how would they enter an actual romantic relationship? Well, I think after some time Rook would eventually notice that his feelings are different form his general admiration of the beauty all around him. As for Vil, it would take a bit more time for him… first to realize and then to accept them.

About the confession… Rook confesses his undying love for Vil everyday. Probably after taking notice of his feelings he shifts his confessions to be a bit more specific and romantic? (going from "I could admire your beauty all day" to something like "I'd like to admire your beauty as you wake up in the morning", implying that he would like to spend his life with Vil). At some point, Vil would start to notice the shift in Rook's compliments and I think this would probably be the trigger to him realizing his own feelings.

So, in the end, I think it would be Vil the one to properly confess! If it was for Rook, he would be happy watching Vil from afar. Of course, he would love nothing more than to be by his side forever, but he would accept whatever makes his queen happy. Vil is the one who needs a confirmation, establishing something formal (and to have Rook for himself before he ends up devoting himself for some other idol- yeah Vil is a jealous man lol).

After NRC? Well, Vil would continue with his acting career of course. I think Rook would be happy to live somewhere in the nature and not the city, but he could accomodate for Vil. Maybe they could share a weekend house in the cottage of Pyroxene. Or, reversely, they could live somewhere more secluded and have Vil travel for some days when there's a shooting. At this point they probably made their relationship public, too. I can see Rook working as different things (mostly manual or artistic labours, not something academic), but for sure he'd be an amateur bodyguard for Vil lmao. I think the general public would get the idea that Vil is already taken and not to mess with his husband <3 and so they live happily ever after.

Chenya x Riddle

Chenya x Riddle relationship headcanons

Okay, so you know the song "It's a wonderful cat's life"? That's basically their dynamic to me lol. This is one of my favorite ships for Riddle because I like the childhood friends to lovers trope, and I like Chenya as a character, but we don't really know much about him so some stuff will be made up kdfjds.

We know their first meeting was through Riddle's window, when him and Trey introduced themselves and took Riddle out to play and eat some sweet treats. Just,, that is already so cute and romantic lol, it's such a classic! The princess (Riddle) stuck on a tower meeting his prince (Chenya) through the window >< And his mother sadly prohibited him from seeing the other boys anymore :'( so it's a forbidden romance! But fear not, Chenya doesn't even need a long braid of hair to climb, his unique magic already allows him to float and become invisible so he can easily infiltrate Riddle's room! (which, thinking of… him getting his unique magic by 9 years old is quite young 🤔 but they showed it like that on the manga, maybe because he's a beastman and not a human he's more magic-inclined?)

Following that line of thought, I like to think that it was Chenya who fell for Riddle first! Always seeking to be beside him, for some reason the kid was so fun to tease, and he seemed quite lonely so he developed some sort of affection towards him. At first it was just friendly but as the years passed he slowley realized that his feelings were starting to shift towards something more romantic. Obviously Riddle too always looked forward to his visits; although he didn't like Chenya startling him by appearing out of nowhere, in the end he could always count on the cat boy to get a giggle out of him (and I want to believe that if Chenya stuffs something in his pockets, it dissapears with him so maybe he would bring biscuits and stuff from Trey's bakery to him lol).

Now, when going into RSA, Chenya was away for a full year before Riddle went to Sage Island as well. During this period, Riddle would have time to introspect -he misses both Chenya and Trey, but why are his feelings towards each of them different? Aren't they supposed to be both his friends? Still, even if he unconsciously already knew, it would take him a looong time to accept it, considering this is all still pre-overblot.

With Riddle getting into NRC, they would become close once again and Chenya could visit him more often without needing to hide from his mother (although he still needs to hide from authorities when tresspassing the school's gates lol). During this period, I think Chenya would let him be. Even if he's reckless, he knows when to not overstep a boundary. By this I mean… He wouldn't act on his feelings towards Riddle (maybe even going out with other people in the meantime to forget about him? oh the angst-).

It would still take one year more, after Riddle's overblot, for him to do an actual introspection and accept his feelings towards Chenya. Now, it's not easy for him. He already knows he likes him, then what? Should he try to pursue a relationship? Give up on it? Trey would become his advisor in this sort of situation, and given that he's also friends with Chenya, he would already be aware of the catboy's feelings for the younger boy, so he would encourage Riddle to give it a chance.

With all this said, it would be Riddle the one to confess; Chenya wouldn't have expected it, but of course he's happy and quickly accepts. Once they're both dating, the relationship would develop slowly but surely, starting with baby steps. First starting with little dates in more private places of the Heartslabyul gardens, then maybe moving to other locations around Sage Island.

I think Riddle would still be hesitant about having dates back home in the Rose Queendom, because they might run into one of his mother's acquaintances, not to mention his mother herself. But Chenya would introduce him to his own family first. Since cats usually have many kittens, I like to imagine that Chenya would have at least some siblings and they would all adore Riddle (and would love to mess with him lol, but Chenya is there to protect him -only he can annoy his boyfriend).

However, I don't think Riddle would be the type to date someone out of a whim, so when deciding to date Chenya he already knew sooner or later he would have to confront his mother. He just needs time, is all! After finishing higschool he would tell her about his decision and if she doesn't approve of it… well, he already has a family where he can make himself at home.
