After ton has left and everyone knows retsuko and him are dating. How would a double date between retsuko and ton and fennecko and tsunoda go 😂

- Well first of all Retsuko has to explain to a confused Ton that, no, Fenneko and Tsunoda aren’t coming WITH dates, they are EACH OTHER’S dates. And he’s like “OH. They’re— okay, gotcha.” Like he doesn’t have a problem or anything but it just flies over his head initially because he’s from a time where “that” kinda stuff was very hush hush, y’know?

- Once that’s dealt with, they would probably hang out over drinks and food and Ton would ask questions about how the office is doing now he’s left. Kinda hoping they’ll say he’s a much better boss than the new one ever was.

They don’t, and Ton tries to hide his disappointment.

- Tsunoda is also not as full on with sucking up to Ton as she used to be as he’s not her boss now, something he picks up on as well. Like. He tries to talk about how well he did at golf or achievements at the office whilst he was in charge like “hey, remember?” and Tsunoda listens politely but is quick to change the subject and talk about how great her and Fenneko have been doing and he’s like. Ah. Okay. AGAIN. HE TRIES TO HIDE HIS DISAPPOINTMENT.

- Thankfully Retsuko is there to hold his hand under the table and mutter stuff like “don’t be such a baby” when he looks over at her all forlorn like “I am feel uncomfortable when we are not about me????”

- Tsunoda and Fenneko are of course curious to know how they’ve been, how they got together and HOW they kept it a secret for so long.

- “I thought Kabae was kidding when she said she saw you two all cosied up together in the tea room!!”

- And then they ask the same thing for the two of them. Ton bluntly looks between them like “I thought you hated each other, how’d that happen?”

- They just look at him and then at Retsuko like “you’re one to be asking that question, buddy.”

- But yeah. Retsuko is just happy that the four of them are able to talk openly, share beers and good food and just. Not have judgement and animosity, or any sense of duplicitousness or secret keeping like how they all used to be years ago. And she’s happy to see Fenneko so happy, someone who had such a cynical view of dating and didn’t want to open up to anyone in that way. Tsunoda brought out the best in her, and vice versa. And Fenneko and Tsunoda would probably agree that Retsuko brought out the best in their old boss, who definitely seems to have cooled down from being his arrogant, sexist self. (Retsuko made it very plain that if there was even ONE stupid, sexist joke at dinner that he would be sleeping on the couch. LMAO).

But Ton’s become more relaxed, and jovial, especially now that there isn’t the stress of work on his shoulders anymore. And they’re surprised he took on the role of house husband (or the equivalent if they’re roommates and not yet married) so readily, since Retsuko is the one out there with a career now.

(He probably makes a comment like “I’m just proud Retsu-kun is out there kicking ass!” And then realises he let his cutesy petname for her slip because of the SMUG expressions on Tsunoda and Fenneko’s faces. He stutters and is like “RetsuKO I said RETSU— stop laughin’ you punks!!”)

- Tsunoda takes a group selfie at the end and says she’ll send a copy to all their phones, but when Ton gets out his goddamn Nokia flip phone from like 2007 she’s like “uh yknow what never mind I’ll just… let Retsuko show ya it.”

- Ton invests in an Iphone not long afterwards so he can have a copy too.
