A sneeze brought Mikazuki Munechika from the sweet, warm depths of slumber and back to the land of living. Drowsily, he blinked once, then twice, and rubbed at his eyelids with a delicate finger, sniffling a few times in the late summer air. Comfortably, he settled back against the tree and tucked his hands into the warmth of his sleeves--then realized that the moon was high in the night sky. With a start, he lurched to his feet and his spine made the most distressed crack! In agony, he fell back against the tree, a hand pressed to the small of his back. But all of that mattered little, because he had become late! And it was not in the fashion that he walked slow, or he had just decided to take his time--no, he had sat down for just a breather beneath the tree, and completely fallen asleep!
Based on the position of the moon, he was supposed to have arrived at the new citadel almost six hours ago. The throb in his back faded slowly and he stretched, then took off down the road at a brisk pace. He had to make up the time, somehow, even though it would be another several hours until he reached the citadel. As he walked, Mikazuki checked the slip of paper with the directions on it, which included a crudely drawn map (in case you get lost, a scribbled note explained).
A citadel managed by a saniwa named... Katsugeki, was it? He frowned, then tucked the paper back into his bag and continued his quick pace. The hours dragged by. Somewhere, a nightingale sang; an immeasurable amount of time later, an owl hooted and something screeched in terror. Night was always so much more lively than people gave it credit for.
Finally, he arrived at the citadel gate. Mikazuki took a deep breath to at least arrange some measure of composure, then knocked boldly at the heavy door.
“I am Mikazuki Munechika, reporting for duty. We received notice of your request, and so, here I am.” He bowed deeply--and several twigs and leaves fell from his hair. “My apologies for my tardiness.”

“I only wish death for myself... and I want you to be the sword for this exact purpose. Will you heed your master’s orders for one last time? Yagen Toushirou.............”
Yagen opened his eyes wide and looked around in a delirious panic. He had thought that the room he was in was on fire, but it was merely the stuffiness of his study room in summer that had left the tantou drenched in sweat from the heat when he dozed off on the couch.
A nightmare...? The Toushirou thought as he sat up and looked at his gloved hands, spacing out for a bit due to waking up a few seconds ago, until he felt drops of water dripping down from his face and into his hands. But it wasn’t sweat... it was tears... had that dream affected him that badly...?
The sword blankly stared at his hands that continued to collect his tears from his still watering eyes, trying to recall what he had dreamt of exactly, which was disturbingly easy to him since he felt as though he was recalling a distant memory, not a fantastical dream... he needs to check. He needs confirmation. The Toushirou clenched his hands into fists as he staggered off the couch to leave his room to walk through the citadel.
Walking through the dimly-lit hallways in a shamble due to weakness in both his body and mind, Yagen felt as though his thoughts were clouded, filled with irrational fears and unneeded worries, all of which were directing his footsteps to one very specific location. Soon he reached it, a room which he knows had someone in it, most likely sleeping... hopefully they were. Opening the sliding door to the room and closing it behind him silently, the sword crept over to a figure laying on a bed and blankly stared at them, murmuring softly. “... taishou..........”

The snap of his fingers summon an INFERNO OF FLAMES in a circle that protects them both from the monsters that are unlike anything he’s seen before. Then again , he’s seen his fair share of the IMPOSSIBLE to remain so skeptical. Poised and ready , it’s only until the smoke clears with nothing remaining that his hand finally falls to his side. HUES the color of midnight and raven’s wings settle on the unusually colored eyes , young but jaded as if but a reflection of his OWN.
❛ What were those monsters ? ❜ The question RESONATES with a demand for the truth although not quite hostile ... yet. He can’t help notice that the stature of the young man is so short !! And he’d ALWAYS THOUGHT that no one could possibly beat Fullmetal’s unfortunate height before he’d grown up. Amusement glimmers in the depths of his gaze at the thought BEFORE it disappears just as quick.
❛ OOOHH SAY, who’s all this yummy looking food for ?? surely a kitten like you isn’t going to pack away all that ?? ❜ CERULEAN EYES WIDENED immediately as she strolled past, mapping out the complete contents of the table at which the saniwa was seated. kaiyo was instantly routed to the spot, distracted entirely from her previous task of delivering supplies to yagen. @tsurici.

Upon returning from the most recent expedition he’d been appointed captain on, something wasn’t settling well with him. There was an itching feeling twitching under his fingers whenever his hand was close enough to his blade. Something was off, and he didn’t like it. His first thought was to at least bathe and see if it cleansed him of this unwanted energy, but he knew he should report to the saniwa as soon as possible with the findings of the expedition.
Begrudgingly, he slowly made his way toward his saniwa’s office, a gentle rapping set against the wood of the sliding door to be sure he wasn’t intruding. The restless energy was growing stronger, and he wasn’t sure he liked this in the slightest. “Maybe if I just... go and bathe just really quick...” His feet felt as though they couldn’t move now, however, and this concerned him.
Why wasn’t he able to control himself better? Why did it feel like he didn’t have nearly as much control of this body of flesh and blood as he did before the expedition? A nervous thought crossed his mind as he tried to recall if he encountered any venomous creatures in the process of the expedition that could have caused him these difficulties, but nothing came to mind. The other possibility is the one that bothered him most as he felt himself losing more and more control of his body, fingers twitching as they moved toward the hilt of his blade, readying themselves as if he were about to go into battle.
This wasn’t right, and his eyes went wide as he heard the saniwa’s footsteps approaching the door as his hand pulled the blade free. No, no, no...! Violet flashed scarlet before the ootachi watched as his own two hands moved the blade to attack the saniwa against his will.

When he heard that he was going to be the Captain, it would be a lie to say that he wasn’t surprised. How could he not? To think that such an important position would be given to him, a mere replica. In all honesty, it makes him anxious. Surely there are others who would be able to do a better job at this than him?
But ah, the answer won’t come to him no matter how much he ponders about it, right? He’s not the Saniwa.
There’s still quite some time before they have to set out. Maybe he should ask his Master about it, just to get it off of his chest--and possibly gain some reassurance. A small figure garbed in white enters the corner of his vision, and the uchigatana immediately turns around.
“Aruji.”
INTRODUCTIONS || @tsurici
“Aruji, I have returned.”
Tomoegata greets the sage with a bow upon reaching him — and with formalities out of the way, albeit with ample time to hang between them, as if out of thin air he retrieves his schedule.
“The laundry has been done – horses groomed, fed and properly watered – the kitchens, cleaned after last night’s incident and restocked per your instructions and Mitsutada-dono’s requests–”
“–the resources our expedition party retrieved have been cataloged and stored properly... and the sortie has not yet returned,” the sword mutters, brow furrowing for only a moment before his features temper themselves once more. “Are there any other tasks that require attention today?”
