i was tagged by @rolling-blunder, thank you so much!!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
so my ao3 username is nightshade002 and it’s because that was my brother’s username for everything and i just kinda adopted it for myself on things i didn’t think he would ever use
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
the mermaid au by far has the most of all those (116 subscriptions, 67 bookmarks, 4542 hits, 342 kudos, 55 comment threads) the next most in hits has over 3000 less
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
my icon is what my avatar here used to be and it’s oikawa through a sepia filter bc i just like the sepia filter
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
@cheetahleopard comments on like everything and i love it and there’s a few others that always comment on things but i can’t remember their names off the top of my head
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
i actually read most of my fics over and over bc tbh i like a lot of what i write and i write it mostly for myself and what i want to see
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
i have 54 bookmarks and i’m subscribed to a lot more
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
well, i write the most for the mermaid au but in general i write fantasy aus a lot

244 subscriptions in general
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
i don’t really think there’s anything i’m afraid of people judging me for like story idea wise or anything
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
updating more often, replying to comments, finishing things quickly, using less dialogue, using more descriptions of things, tbh a lot of things
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
i tend to write popular ships more often, but i do occasionally throw in rarepair fics
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
both. sometimes i tell someone about the idea i have for a story and that’s where it’s written down (btw you could literally message me and ask about any kind of new fic idea and i would 100% be down with sharing) but until i actually start writing the fic i usually keep it in my head bc if i write down something in a doc i’ll start writing even if i don’t have time (aka pirate captain witch oikawa)
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
16. How did you discover AO3?
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
i don’t think i am? but idk
sometimes i start talking somewhere that isn’t tumblr and i mention the mermaid au and people are like woa!! that’s you?? and it always takes me by surprise (one time i met someone irl that may have read one of my fics which was Weird)
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
a lot of what i read is inspiration and i have a lot of people that are very supportive and encouraging to me, but i don’t think i’ve got anyone specific?
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Keep trying! Keep writing! Watch Brooklyn 99 season 5 episode 8! You get better the more you write, I promise
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
it’s kinda a mix of both, but i mostly figure stuff out as i go
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
I haven’t ever really gotten a bad comment, which I’m super grateful for
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
it’s really just the scenes that i don’t want to write that are hard, like if i’m really close to the scene i actually started a story for, everything up to that is hard because i’m so close to what i want to write but it’s still so far away
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
magic mirror (which once i update it again is probably gonna be my main focus bc i’m close to the end)
pirate captain witch oikawa
of hidden towns and the people that find them (and also from the castle to the woods)
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
i start my next projects before i finish my current ones
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
oh absolutely i’ve improved since i started, i improve a lot even like from one fic to another
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
no you can’t make me pick a favorite. I really like of hidden towns and the people that find them (and also from the castle to the woods) because i feel like i’ve put the most effort into like editing and making sure theyre both well written
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
no one would recognize it probably, but it’s titled Hide And Seek and i always regret continuing it past a oneshot
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
i’m not really sure because things don’t really keep my attention for long and this is one of those things that i’m just like... waiting for it to fade out? i don’t really plan into the future for things or think about it just because so much can change, but if i am still writing, hopefully i’ll have finished my original work and i’ll still be writing fanfics
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
ideas and wanting to write
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
writing (and summaries and titles because i’m super picky about titles like it has to feel just right for me to use it and that’s why there’s some things i won’t post to ao3 because i can’t get the right title)
i enjoy it and it’s something to do with my time and i love getting feedback and things like that and interacting with other people. writing is primarily a mode of communication and i just want to share what i’ve created with other people
I’m gonna tag anyone in @thewritersquad who wants to do this or anyone who writes in general!
