“A teacher?” Fig offers hesitantly.
Teodoro nods. Goodness, what a tangle.
“Well…” Building slowly, Fig does precisely what he’s always hoped to do, though he feels not unlike he’s throwing himself out of the half-gored carriage a second time: he parents. “This is about the time where—” Children? Young ones? Godric’s heart, how does one skip tainting a conversation in accidental condescension? “—those your age not only seek one another out—” He ought to have been able to start off small. A toddler might have asked the same thing sixteen times, but at least you didn’t have to navigate explanations of romances, both illogical and illegal.
Always wanted a child, we said, Fig reminds himself. Well. I am certainly in the trenches now.
“The point is,” Fig swings back around, clearing his throat, “it’s all perfectly natural for one’s desires to, ah, outpace their reach. It’s hardly uncommon.” Did that make sense? Merlin, his lectures are concise and airtight. This has no right to be so tricky. “That said—” then he freezes as a stray thought flits in, unbidden. “Wait. This professor in question…” backing up a step, he inadvertently mirrors Teodoro’s wide-mouthed press, “—it’s not me, is it?”
Made some screencaps to go with Fig's ONE FEAR scene in never too late. Teo's got the wrong expression, but I did this for Fig. it's forgivable.
Unfairly pleased with this learning attempt. XD
