Oh, hello! . At the start of 2019, I decided I'd invest more time focusing on building up shoulder strength since that had always been one of my weaker areas. My plan was to continue with my combination of weights and calisthenics, but with emphasis on planche progression work. Bear in mind, I was so far from being able to planche that I didn't even think it was worth bothering setting it as a realistic goal. I would just do the progression work and see how things panned out. . Over the subsequent months, I put in the work which in terms of direct planche progression work was about one workout a week, but I also benefitted from my weights, calisthenics and yoga sessions. Gradually, I was making progress until I plateaued at the advanced tuck planche for what seemed like months. . What I didn’t realise was that I hadn’t actually hit a strength wall which I couldn’t overcome, but it was a mental wall. I had already accepted I couldn’t do a planche and yet here I was trying to planche and wondering why I wasn’t getting anywhere. . Today, I decided that I COULD planche. Maybe not perfectly and maybe not for very long, but I decided I had enough specific strength and technique from related holds to see me through. . #straddleplanche #planche #tuckplanchepushups #lsittuckplanche #plancheprogression #smfam #fitoverforty #fitover40 #calisthenicsuk (at Liverpool) https://www.instagram.com/p/By_KT4gBn-Z/?igshid=pqdnz9kmthl2
