As a cancer survivor, FUCK YOU TO INFINITY for daring suggest that my breasts being removed means I'm on a level with ~trans women. FUCK YOU!!!
Ah, we’ve gotten to what I’m calling my Erin Brockovitch post. So let’s start with - this is a terf.
The post in question mentions a scene in the movie where Marg Helgenberger‘s character - one of the women with cancer - makes a monologue about how if you don’t have a uterus, and you don’t have breasts, can you still be considered a woman? In the scene, Erin reassures her that her body parts don’t define her womanhood. Most people agree with this, and with concepts like infertile women are no less women just because they can never give birth.
The same can be extended to trans women - if you agree that there is nothing biological that defines you as a woman then you cannot level biological arguments at them it’s simply hypocritical. Breasts or no breasts - it doesn’t define you as a woman.
To pretend that you, anon, as a cancer survivor losing their breasts is still a woman because you were ~born that way~ then you are inherently saying that there is a biological part of yourself you could lose or change that would redefine your womanhood. In the same vein, that means that there is a biological part of men that could be changed to eliminate their manhood.
