Tom and Jerry Headcanons: Tyke Bulldog
Tyke! I always found him kind of cute (even though I'm not a dog person in real life). So here, let's take the opportunity to learn more about him.
-Unlike what the screens show, he is not at all adverse to cats. In fact, he thinks cats are the coolest thing! And he absolutely ADORES Tom, which he isn’t shy to show.
-Tyke also REALLY likes Jerry. Jerry is a bit of an enabler with Tyke and this means the two get into rather destructive mischief together.
-Out of all the Tom and Jerry cast, Tyke has the most animal instincts, which he picked up from watching real dogs.
-Tyke is surprisingly good at recognizing emotional cues. He’s often given space to the rest of the cast members when they’re REALLY not in the mood or even comforted them when they needed it most.
-One of Tyke’s biggest faults is that he can be destructive at times, be it accidentally or on purpose. He often doesn’t look where he’s going, causing him to bump into things and break several pieces of equipment.
-Another of Tyke’s faults is that he’s a constant attention seeker. He is CONSTANTLY trying to get people’s attention, whether that be by nipping, scratching, or barking. And obviously, people don’t take it well sometimes. Spike has been trying to work on this flaw with Tyke.
-One of Tyke’s habits is that he will lick anyone anytime. He loves licking people in general, as he's a very affectionate pup... but he doesn't always realize when it's not appropriate.
-Tyke is one of the few Toons and the ONLY Tom and Jerry cast member who is completely speechless. He can’t make any human noise or speech. He tried making human sounds with his vocals once and it just…didn’t work.
-Tyke LOVES his papa Spike! He instantly loved Spike from the moment they first met! And thankfully, Spike loved him almost immediately back, despite being unsure if he had what it took to be a father.
-Off-screen, he’s friends with Quacker and Tuffy. The three like to hang out together and get into some light mischief. (Tyke’s own dad Spike is a favorite target of Quacker and Nibbles particularly).
-Since Spike is good friends with Doggie Daddy, Tyke often has playdates with Augie Doggie! Augie LOVES treating Tyke as if he were her little brother, often playing fetch and other activities with him.
This must be the first time they're using both a general "traditional' style and the one used in the Japanese shorts for a charm series
