THE SNUGGIE:
Maybe the silliest idea ever; as inventive as putting a bath robe on backwards, the Snuggie has made it's creator Scott Boilen, millions!
There were a few other items on the market that resembled the Snuggie at the time of it's official launch, but none had the marketing clout or cute name to boot.
The Snuggie itself is not actually patentable, and if you are the owner of a product, you know how terrifying a thing that is! So, when the Snuggie campaign launched, whether intentionally or unintentionally, it's marketers made fun of it, with infomercials showing families roasting marshmallows together in what looked like backward blankets.
If you got anything for Christmas over the first two years of it's launch, you or someone you know got a Snuggie and LOVED it!
I'm estimating Snuggie sales earned it's owner about 200 Million dollars and counting... Granny above here is a perfect example of how the product has grown and adapted, with sports logos, kids and even pet versions too!
