tulk is the perfect man
yeah, have an extension of my Zootopia-ish Ravagers. Someone wanted to see a Maned Wolf Kraglin so I delivered!! pulse a Red Deer Tulk, a hairy Babirusa Taserface, and the ever lovable thylacine Yondu. here is some of my earlier work for this crossover: link I still like weasel Kraglin but the Maned Wolf version is growing on me....
Okay so while I was on vacation, I was thinking about humans being a horrifying species to aliens and what type of funny incidents this would cause when Peter was growing up among ravagers. At the same time, being the pasty ocean lover I am, I got sunburnt. Wanting an outlet for my immense pain, I decided to think about Peter trying to warn Kraglin that he’ll burn in the hot sun during a mission, and Kraglin thinking he’s being overdramatic because by alien standards, burning only means charred, melted, blistering skin and permanent damage. So when Yondu slaps him on the back after the successful job and he screams in pain and tells them he got sunburnt, they all assume that his skin has been irreparably damaged and he’ll experience chronic pain for the rest of his life. When Peter tells Kraglin that he told him this would happen, crew members get on his ass for ruining the boy's life. (This thought also got me thinking about Kraglin having to be nice to Peter because he ruined his life, like Squidward in dying for pie) The crew is actually disturbed at how easily this little Terran is taking his skin being set on fire. Yondu keeps dragging him to the medic to get his burns treated because Peter takes off any bandages they put on him. They’re all pretty sure Aloe Vera is a mythical cure, despite having incredibly similar pain remedies on board that Peter uses. They’re all speechless when after a few days Peter’s back to normal and tells them he got over his burn. Everything seems fine for about a day until someone reports that Peter’s skin is peeling off, i.e. he’s molting.
Do you still do the matchups?
Currently i’m taking a break but soon i’m opening up ravager matchups
Finally got around to watching GotG Vol 2 the other day...
...and this is the result.
(Un)Fortunate Timing
Summary: “Don’tchu go pointin’ yer weapon at th’ High Captain, Quill,” Yondu rasped, supporting himself against the wall as he staggered forward another couple steps. “I let yew keep that thing t’ defend yerself, not piss off one a th’ only decent assholes in th’ galaxy.”
Featuring: The utterly baffled Stakar Ogord, Mister Yondu “I’m fine dammit!” Undonta, assorted Ravagers, and snarky lil’ kid!Peter Quill
Chapter One - Interesting Introduction
Stakar let his gaze roll over the chaos filling the room before bringing it back to the obviously nervous (and just as obviously attempting to hide it) Kraglin Obfonteri.
“So,” he drawled. “Yondu’s crew finally decided to pull a mutiny.”
The Xandarian bristled at that, along with the dozen or so living men scattered through the room behind him. “Only half th’ crew, thank you, and not the half that won this fight. I know you think he turned inta scum, Ogord, but Yondu’s been keeping his nose clean - that’s what pissed off Taserface and those like him enough to mutiny,” Kraglin growled.
“Mmhm. So, should I assume Yondu died in the fight and now you’re captain of this raggedy lot?” Even as he said the casual words, Stakar felt a stab of pain in his heart. There’d been a time, years past, when he considered Yondu to be something akin to the son he and Aleta would never have. Back in those days, the Centaurian was still adjusting to life as a free being, and projecting a bold as brass attitude to cover up how uncertain he constantly felt - except when around Stakar and the other original Captains. They were family, the ones he felt comfortable enough to be himself around. Stakar always felt proud when he saw the kid relaxing in their company.
But then the Ego matter happened, and he’d been forced to block away all emotion regarding Yondu.
“Actually,” Kraglin coughed, unwittingly bringing Stakar back to the present. “Th’ captain ain’t here. Mutineers thought they’d best ambush us while he an’ his arrow were gone.”
“Gone where.” Stakar didn’t bother phrasing it as a question.
“...Mejak Three. Been there a few days, with, um, one of the new crewmembers. They were due back tomorrow.”
“I see. In that case, we’ll just sit tight until he gets back-”
“Kraglin!”
Both men turned to see a maroon-wearing Ravager approaching, escorted by two of Stakar’s crew in their blue leathers.
“What’s up, Tulk?”
“Trouble - Taserface an’ a couple of his cronies aren’t among the dead. And his usual M-ship is missing from the hangar.”
Kraglin cursed. “He’s goin’ after the Captain and Quill.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised. We’ve gotta get goin’ after them, the Captain don’t know what’s comin’ his way!”
“None of you are going anywhere.” Stakar raised a hand to silence the protests. “There’s not a one of you who isn’t injured, not to mention the fact that I’m not done with this crew yet. I’ll leave for Mejak Three.”
“You’ll just kill Yondu yerself!”
Slowly, one of the High Captain’s eyebrows went up. “And why,” he slowly asked. “Would I do that, if he’s been - as you claimed - keeping his nose clean?”
“Um.”
just some random headcanons about Peter growing up on Yondu’s ship
Yondu teaching Peter to fly and pretending Peter messed up when he didn’t (“No NO, you shouldn’t have pressed that button, boy!” “WHAT?!” “It’s the self-destruct one, all Ravager ships got it!” “You should have told me; I didn’t know! What do we do!” *Yondu cracks up* “Just playing with you, take it easy, kid.” “YONDUUUUU!!!!!”)
Yondu taking Peter to all sorts of cool planets and pretending they’re there for practical reasons but he actually just wants Peter to see them cause he thinks he’d like them.
The crew celebrating Peter’s birthday and Kraglin making a birthday cake which comes out really messed up (like, frosting melting and layers sagging and shaky writing) but it means a lot to Peter even though everyone makes fun of it
Peter finding an old jacket of Yondu’s that he really likes but it’s too big so he resolves to work out until his muscles get big enough for it to fit and that’s the real reason he’s so in shape
Yondu teaching Peter to shoot and regretting it when Peter uses some of his dashboard figurines for target practice
But then Peter feels really guilty and buys him some new ones
Yondu always thinking up something to critique when Peter tries to show off to him so Peter always thinks Yondu wasn’t impressed but then one of the crew members mentions how Yondu’s always bragging about him when Peter’s not around
So Peter doesn’t let Yondu hear the end of that for weeks
Storytime with the Ravagers - Peter retelling (and sometimes reenacting) movies from Earth. “So this one’s called Indiana Jones…”
Peter wanting to have some Earth food, only they can’t find all the ingredients and then one day Tulk brings back the coveted ingredient of **PEPPERONI** and they have a pizza party
Peter exaggerating how much parents on Earth buy for their kids because every time he talks about it he seems to find some new piece of tech in his room which Yondu always denies is from him (“Me? Why would I buy you a new blaster? You’re plenty spoiled already, brat.”) but Peter is totally onto him
None of the crew can sing but they all know Peter’s music and whenever he’s in a bad mood someone conveniently starts humming one of his favorite songs and it’s so bad it always makes him laugh.
Peter sneaking a pet onboard and everyone keeps it a secret from Yondu because he has a strict no-animals rule but then one day he comes in to find Kraglin and Peter playing with it and they both totally freeze up (Kraglin starts stuttering an explanation and Peter tries to hide the animal) but Yondu agrees to let them keep it (pretending to be angry about it even though he doesn’t really mind) as long as they clean up after it and don’t let it cause any trouble. He takes care to leave them with the impression that he’s doing them a huge favor and he’s not happy about it.
oogway and lance got too drunk and we had to carry them home lol
I’ve been thinking about Nebula’s part in the Mutiny and the feelings that created in the aftermath of Volume 2. I mean Kraglin obviously blames himself too much to be upset or angry at her. We saw that Rocket’s still pissed. But what about Peter, Yondu was his dad and he grew up with that crew. We never see how Peter feels about them all being dead after the mutiny. I mean I doubt he’d shed tears for someone like Taserface, but what about the “innocent ravager” Oblo he seemed pretty nice and he doesn’t seem like an abusive guy or Tulk who never seems to be upset about how Quill’s treated by Yondu, I’d imagine he has some friends on that ship. Do you think he’s mad at her? If he was, would he tell Gamora? and how would Gamora react to those feelings? Do you think Groot dislikes her for manipulating him? Would Gamora be upset when she hears about Nebula’s actions? I can’t see her being mad at Nebula, but may be disappointed? Or would Gamora blame herself for helping turn Nebula into the women who did that?
