As much Kaito couldn’t stand the feeling of being trapped in the Ultimate Academy, he took some comfort in the fact that they all seemed somewhat safe. Monokuma’s cryptic instructions about dating and the fact that they could hardly see the outside was troubling, but at least no one was hurt.

Almost no one, anyway.

Kaito was sitting with his back against the strange door that lead to the Ultimate Astronaut Lab. He’d planned to head up there, but it was shaping up to be a worse day than he thought. He’d gotten about a quarter of the way up the spiral stairs before he felt his chest tighten up and his lungs burn. He wasn’t giving up by heading back down, he told himself. He was just going to get a bottle of water or something first.

He lost that delusion when he collapsed the second his back hit the wall.

Sitting there for a while, the burning subsided and was replaced by an almost icy sensation. His arms and legs shook from the lack of oxygen and despite sitting completely still, he was breathing as if he was out on a run. It didn’t hurt anymore. It was more just uncomfortable, though the idea of the Ultimate Astronaut being unable to walk up the stairs to his own lab overwhelmingly pained his pride.

He still wasn’t giving up though. It was just a bad day. And speaking of bad days, he could feel a looming figure in the hallway perpendicular from him. It only took him a short glance over to pick out who the tall, skeletal figure belonged to. He glared at it, speaking in a strained almost raspy voice.

“W-What the hell do you want, Shinguuji? I don’t have time to be your case study today.”

“Well, then, Atua’s rage is Angie’s rage, in that case!” She took a carving knife from the inside of her smock and twirled it before pointing it threateningly at Korekiyo. “Atua says Korekiyo is impure, and he need to be punished for his ungodly deeds!” Smile widening, she was ready to slit Korekiyo’s arm to let the evil seep out of him. Most people would let her do so, but this one might be tough.
