So I’ve seen that billions of times now

Artists comparing themselves to other, more experienced and more skilled artists. Do not do that. It’s great to look up to others, to set yourself a goal, but not much can come from just comparing your current level to someone else’s.

I’ve seen so many artists (myself included) look at their most current work, doubting themselves, thinking “I’m not close as good as XY.” Skill is not about what you are but much more what you are becoming. Of course you can’t see your progress by looking at one picture. Because a progress is something fluent, something that needs multiple pictures to become visual.

You can look at the photograph of a car and go “Yeah, this car won’t ever make it to its destination, it ain’t moving.” But it’s just the capture of one moment. And just from looking at that, you can’t tell how fast that car is actually moving. Don’t compare it to the car that started driving earlier and is already parked in the town where you want to be. Keep going. And if you doubt your progress then look in the rearmirror and check what you’ve already passed by.

And keep driving.

Hello! If you don't mind me asking, how much would it be for additional characters for your commissions? :)

Since I still have not reworked my pricelist (which will probs take another while since I’m a professional procrastinator when it comes to that) I’d say like an average additional 60% of the original price? Does that sound fair? :v

so today in the shop I am working at a mom let her little daughter buy a lucky bag. We have 2 different kinds, labeled as “Lucky bag for girls” and “Lucky bag for boys”; one is red, the other is blue. The pictures fall into stereotypical categories as well, fairies and horses on the red one, cars and dinosaurs on the blue one.

The mother just asks “Which one do you want, blue or red?” And the kid, not even thinking twice about it says “Blue!”

That’s when my coworker, comes around the corner, sees the kid with the “Lucky bag for boys” and says “That one is for boys.”

The kid’s mom and I just stare at her in utter disbelieve but the kid is quickest to answer:

“No. This one is mine now.”
