Welcome to Tunesday, in which I write a snippet to a song that Spotify chooses for me, on a Tuesday. All are welcome to do this.

Song of the week: Yes, I'm a Mess by AJR

I'm assigning this to April so fast.

He trailed his fingers over the rough bark of the tree, his head aching to rest against it. The blur of an unfocused world tilted behind him, putting him at a diagonal to everything else. Equidistant from sanity and insanity alike. His eyes focused on the way the lines of the tree stirred and writhed like worms. Then he imagined they were worms, crawling over him, burying into his skin. He imagined Ember would be angry with him. For wandering into the forest alone. He brought the bottle to his lips and drank, sinking down into the dirt, begging it to consume him. Just one night of solace from all this stress. Or eternity. The trees quivered with the wind. His bare arms seemed paler in the growing darkness. But he couldn't feel it. If he could ever feel much.
