You can not convince me that Simcoe had nothing to do with Captain Joyce’s death. First of all, it opens the vacancy for him to rise in rank. It also opens up a room at Strong Manor, where he can be closer to Anna. 

Yes, I know Robeson and the drummer were responsible for Joyce’s death. But who is to say that Simcoe did not pay them to conveniently get rid of the man? After all, Simcoe cons Easton into shooting the Magistrate. So why does no one suspect that the Captain is involved?  

He knows exactly which room he is going to take because of previous, most likely uninvited ventures into her home. This would confirm Anna’s statements to Abraham. “I hear him outside my door at night and he has been in my room when I have not, I’m certain of it.”

Captain Simcoe is probably very methodical and thorough in his searches of a place- probably owing to his military training.. so I mean Anna is right about not accepting the money Abe offers her. Simcoe could probably spot it within ten seconds.

Richard: Abe, I’ve been looking everywhere for you!

Abe: .......

Richard: *picks up the coat he had taken off and draped over a chair*  He clearly doesn’t appear to be searching too hard for his son* Instead he is visiting with the Major

Also Me: I wonder...... did he look at the Strong Tavern, Farm, & Manor?

@dartagnan-the-champion - absolutely. The man is a rat like Labarge... just saying.

@rapid-apathy the only good and selfless thing Robeson ever did was rescue Major Hewlett. He most definitely deserves his fall. I’m sure if Anna knew who helped him take that fall, she’d want to repay him for his kindness. XDDDD
