早いもので、福岡では桜が見頃を迎えております。例年よりも1～2週間程度早いようで、果たして入学/入社式までもつかかどうか･･･。まぁ、なにはともあれ、今年もキレイな桜を見る事が出来る”当たり前のこと”ってシアワセだなぁ、としみじみと感じますね。
さて、先日、インスタで軽～く触れていた"BROWN DUCK"の＜TAILOR STYLE JACKET＞をご紹介致します～（好評につき、すでに売り切れているサイズがございます。スミマセン(;´Д｀)）
＜MODEL：169㎝/70㎏ Size42(XL)着用＞
まだ、ドレスウェアとワークウェアの境界線が曖昧な時代に誕生した”SACK COAT”と呼ばれるワークウェアです。
噛み砕いて言うならば、『ジャケット、背広』型のワークウェアでしょうか。
1890年代にはすでに誕生しており、その後、1905年のメーカーカタログでは姿を消し、マニアの間では”幻のジャケット”と言われているモデルです。
極わずかな生産期間のようで、現存するビンテージはスクラップ状態の1着のみとか。（しかも、その1着?は右半身のみだそうですよ。）
＜小振りな襟＞、＜左右非対称のラウンドポケット＞、＜Aラインが効いたシルエット＞など、各ディテールから”turn of the century(世紀の変わり目)”の香りが漂ってきますが、縫製仕様にも是非注目してほしいですね。
やはり、ココにも時代を感じる縫製であることはもちろん、”TAILOR STYLE”という名を冠するに相応しい、実に丁寧な仕事が見て取れます。
全て＜本縫い(シングルステッチ)＞による縫製
当然、1890年代には、生地の切れ端部分の解れを防ぐ為の処理をする”ロックミシン”はまだ存在せず、ワークウェアにおいては、ただ生地を縫い合わるだけのシンプルで粗末な縫製のものも多く見つかりますが、今回のコレは、縫い合わせた生地をさらに折り込んで縫う”折伏せ縫い”になっています。
非常に手間が掛かる為、今日においても高価なテーラードジャケットなどを作る際に用いられる技法です。（”超”高級は手縫いだったりします。）
縫製箇所の強度が高まるのはもちろん、『美しく仕上がる』というのもこの技法の特徴です。
このジャケットは、決してリバーシブル仕様ではありませんが、仮に裏返しで着用したとしても違和感なく着用することが可能です。（ポケットやボタンなどの有無を除いて）
この時代ならではの限られた方法の中で作り出される”強固で美しいジャケット”のひとつではないでしょうか。
