An 8-year-old Jewish girl was seriously injured in New Jersey, United States, after a baseball-sized stone was thrown through the window of a school bus carrying children from a yeshiva (a traditional Jewish educational institution).

The incident occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike as the bus was returning from a school trip, shattering a window and striking the third-grade student in the head, leaving her with a skull fracture. She was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she underwent surgery and remains in serious condition.

State police have launched an investigation into the attack. No arrests have been made so far.
