In the early 1990's Jeep launched an advertising campaign for the Jeep Grand Cherokee that featured images and videos of John Coltrane. The TV ad featured here juxtaposes video clips of Coltrane with those of the Jeep Grand Cherokee while "Niama" plays in the background. (Information courtesy of Jazz in Pop Culture website). This British TV ad is quite catchy, largely owed to its music track. It is using various long-serving stereotypes but let's not be too critical as it is really well made. The viewer can't help but also start to "shake what your mother gave ya". And the moral is? Put on your glasses and always check the room number :-).
