killing larry makes little sense to me, if they're turning the band then shouldn't he be killing those 3???? what is the reasoning here and i don't want it chalked down to oh armand is evil

i'm honestly still processing episode 5 of tvl... they really continued the tradition of the fifth episode being the most insane one in each season thus far.

this is a looong ramble. apologies. fifth episodes are my favourite. spoiler warning too :3

Sheila atim's acting as Akasha had me staring at my computer screen with my jaw hinged open the entire time (which hurt because I'm still recovering from my wisdom teeth removals ;-;) and i had the chills everywhere on my body. i didn't really know what to expect from sheila's akasha, but any expectation i could have possibly conceived was broken. she was insanely good. Also. Sidenote, i really love the choice to have Akasha in bronze (or bronze coloured stone?) rather than marble as they did in the queen of the damned movie w Aaliyah.

The entire Akasha sequence throughout the episode was the highlight to me. sam and christopher's acting was also incredible. it was interesting to see marius seeming so lost(?) that definitely wasn't how i pictured him being. and Lestat as the keeper! Ah he is so precious! He is three apples tall and only need one scoop of ice-cream!

Louis. Louis.... for gods' sake i have never felt more uncomfortable in my life than watching him with Regina, and "madeleine" too. Though, it was so heartbreaking to see Louis reach out to Lestat for confirmation it's not Claudia. (as the people say it's never loustatover)

And Lestat's song! I cried so hard. I have cried without failure at every episode five each season so far. The producers are also so evil for making Claudia's death scene clearer (intentional or not). The most beautiful of Lestat's song next to the loneliness in my opinion. I will be crying to it again when it's released. Despite it all, Lestat truly loved Claudia and it's really nice to see that on screen. It is also bittersweet to see that Claudia (real of not) can bring them, Louis and Lestat, back together again. after all the heartache they've both been through, she really was the best thing that ever happened to them both. And that is both a blessing and a curse.

Seriously, I do hope they leave Regina alone now. For everyone's sake 😭

Armand! Armand, you can't keep doing this! Have you learnt nothing from your AA meetings?

Rest in peace to Larry, I kind of liked you, you seemed like a good brother from what we got to see and learn about you.

The train station scene and the music!!! I love the music they play when Armand goes full gremlin!!!! Please give us the score Daniel Hart I will give you anything. the creaking of the instruments and Armand's staring and slight head tilt to the camera....it's all so chilling. He terrifies me so much, I love it! Oh, I love him! Assad you are a gift to this series.

His conversation with Daniel also had me buzzing and further confirming that i would be rewatching this episode an ungodly amount of times--much like season's 1 and 2 fifth episodes.

Armand's admission to having followed daniel for 52 years. having saved him from himself for those years. guiding him to the rothko chapel (very specific chapel, there is something more here but not anything i can articulate presently) and giving him a place to weep. sitting at the foot of his bed, watching the fascinating boy. armand going from the thought of siring a vampire being repulsive to saying 'i want to be your maker'. it's just too good. watching him flit from topic to topic too, from stalking daniel, to revealing lestat and Sofia's true relationship and identity, to telling daniel he can teach him to walk in the sun, and Daniel's visible inability to comprehend it all fully is just beautiful. Dan almost saying 'I will never love you' but Armand throwing him for a loop again, amazing! Armand is so skilled in messing with people's minds that he doesn't even need to have access to the mind gift to do it. it's, well, fascinating. (I also love how Dan completely ignores the incest and goes straight to asking about walking in the sun. Priorities...). I really really cannot wait to see how these too will be in episode six.

I truly believe too that Daniel will come to understand Armand and feel a form of love for him. As Armand said, love between vampires can be one thing or it can be countless things.

I also believe that past devil's minion relationship (right after 1973 to around 1990) did happen and Armand erased those memories from Dan years ago for some reason, and he is just going to ease Dan into the memories again. He won't say love until he's made proper amends, and it seems Armand's goal is to give Dan half his life back. So. Maybe wishful thinking for the series, but I hope it happens, as I'd be curious about where they're going to take DM if their past relationship didn't happen, since it's so important in QoTD and Armand's story.

I do hope I'm wrong about this but I have a feeling they're going to kill present day Daniel Molloy. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. But, I've just got this gut feeling..... I don't know though because the cast and crew seem to have tried to shut down those theories. But still. I've got a horrible feeling that something bad will happen to Daniel at the very least. Maybe death is a dramatic interpretation of this feeling. Ahh.

This is already so long but I have to talk about my thoughts on the potential turning of the band (minus Larry). I am, personally, if we're choosing sides, against The Great Conversion of the vampires. #TeamArmand or whatever. But! I think the turning of the band would be interesting... the world does not need more vampires but it would make for an intriguing story? For the show, to me. I'd like to see what they do.

Knowing show Gabriella though, since Lestat doesn't want the band members turned, she may try to turn them herself (or just kill them?). Another way for her to cross Lestat's attempts at boundary setting.

On the other hand, I hope they don't get turned but are at least protected in some way. Perhaps by the vampire Sam? The Talamasca?

Another unnecessary sidenote, wouldn't it be so fun to get to see Sam and Armand reunite...? I wonder how that would go.

This is too long and does not make much sense. If you have read this whole thing you're insane. Wow. I am also insane and have been thinking about this episode every waking hour (and dreaming about it too) since its release in the early hours of Sunday morning aest. Please save me.

when Stained Glass Eyes played for the first time i sat there wondering for a few seconds why there was snow falling on Lestat

Akasha is amazing. She has a faxe made to play a the first woman millenia old progenitor of vampires her voice sequence gave me chills. NICKI nicki nicki give me 10000x more scenes of dead wife nicki haunting lestat NOW, lestat was sooo my pretty girl in this. Her hair her whimsy for life like a disney princess its like not even her fault she did that one thing she'd been told not to do like hello! And also omg lestat floating in the air for 3 whole days because he drank akashas blood is perfect and hilarious. MARIUS marius i love the choice for his hair, i cant believe he dug up lestat to give him a Job. Last scene was amazing i love tvls creativity in showing psychological instability and madness you really feel it, Akasha marius lestat the whole House mad. I mean no wonder any of them are the way they are its actually a miracle one still looks somewhat mentally functioning from outside, lestat babyyyy. I knew they were going to turn the band I mean tough cookie for sure, but noooo oh god. This will not end well, louis and regina negotiating their immersive role play in the middle of it was unexpectedly hilarious, oh but louis grief for clauida killsss me. Lestat too they both were so haunted by her this ep even after one Hundred years

have we ever seen the real lestat? will we ever see him or is he too big and broad a character to present on screen? i don't think we’ve really experienced his perspective before. not in the current tv show, not in any other interpretation. tom cruise. no, that’s louis. iwtv s1 & 2, also Louis (and armand/daniel), qotd movie—that was a fun portrayal but no way. lestat the musical. I don’t really know how to talk about it. honestly, maybe it’s the closest we’ve gotten (not a screen, a stage). either way, lestat takes the air out of the room and leaves little space for other characters. he is all overwhelming love all the time with moments of impulsive cruelty. he’s huge.

tvl's current sad and weirdly cold lestat feels the opposite of all of those traits. if we are still searching to truly know who lestat is by the end of season 3, maybe that’s an intentionality of the show. our other three main characters get to talk and represent themselves at certain points. lestat gets to exist through others. and now we have a 4th character who is given the privilege of omnipotent narration. of course, i am referring to lestat’s line in s3e5, “I, amel, digress.” it's just one interpretation of the line. is "the failures" by lestat, or have we watched 5 episodes of a lestat impersonator? i think there are true moments, like the diss track. that seemed like lestat. maybe our new character got a few things right. still, I don’t think we’ve seen much of lestat yet. 

i'm going to lovingly say this. the show thrives on misdirecting its audience. maybe re-naming the show "the vampire lestat," was the ultimate misdirect of the season.

So marius didn't actually tell lestat to keep the secret and never reveal anything of vampirism to his fledgelings he just did that shit on his own. Cool.
