Its really amazing how these writers are not going to heaven.
I really love the way armand WAS running a cult this whole time and it was actually the root cause of half the seasons events but for some reason the writing team didn't think that was something we needed to. yk. see on screen
the show is using the queen’s blood as an explanation for why lestat unintentionally hurts everyone around him and why he has no impulse control. it’s a valid take that does, in the books, divide lestat’s persona in flashbacks in the vampire lestat versus how he behaves in current day. even if in the book, lestat’s actions are internally driven by love of the world and all its beauty, which doesn’t fully come through in season 3, It explains lestat’s self aggrandising description of himself, especially in later books, and his misremembering of the qualities he possessed as a mortal. i’m into it. as i am book Lestat’s ultimate apologist (why I rarely write about him), I love this explanation. i accept it as canon, even if rice didn’t explicitly state it. if lestat drinking the queen’s blood ultimately translates into the overwhelming love that lestat expresses towards the world, it could be a beautiful motivation for why lestat loves so deeply and is always abandoned. good for the show on this one.
*for reference, I am talking about lestat’s final interaction with the band when they tell him they are ready to become vampires. that scene says a lot about how the queen’s blood affects him.
Lestat knowing better than anyone that rejection/humiliation makes Armand turn evil and still prancing around him singing a diss track is...not even close to the most unhinged thing Lestat did this episode, really.
right so he’s straight up self harming in order to be the singer that his mother demanded he become

marius calling armand a “rotten boy?” idk about that. hopefully it’s a lestat pov inacturacy. or marius saying rotten admiringly (but didn’t seem like it). marius loved Armand more than anything and was very upset about what happened to him. marius was horrifically abusive of course—the vampire armand is a rough book. still, this really isn’t something marius would say. here is what marius really said in the book, the vampire lestat.
