armands
okay now that i can actually think.
This episode reminded me a lot of something Louis said in season one. āAre we the sum of our worst moments? Can we be forgiven if we do not forgive others ourselves?ā
Sitting at the table, Lestat is confronted by both his victims and abusers. He is reminded of the opera, his turning, the witches, Claudia, and everything in his vampiric life that was a āfailure.ā Lestat is made to relive his worst moments. He is made to ponder: āAre we the sum of our worst moments?ā He is met with everyone he has killed, drank from, or harmed. Is he the sum of his worst moments?
āCan we be forgiven if we do not forgive others ourselves?ā The camera switches between the table and the butcher. Can Louis forgive Armand? Perhaps more importantly, can Armand forgive Louis? Can Louis even apologize?
The scenes switch and thereās Lestat at the table. Magnus, Gabriella, Louis, Marius, Antionette. Can he forgive Magnus for his turning? Marius for Akasha and Armand? Gabriella for the abuse? Louis for the marriage and for Claudia? Can they in turn forgive him? āCan we be forgiven if we do not forgive others ourselves?ā
this quote has always been so important to me, so i need to talk about it.
Is our only meaning as people the pain we bring to others? Is perhaps all that matters our wrongdoings?
Are we redeemable if we do not allow others to be as such?
the parallel between lestat and claudia at the incinerator and lestat and his mother at the witch trial?
lestat is loving claudia in the only way he was ever loved. in the only way he knows a parent to love their child (appropriately). he is teaching her in the way his mother taught him.
not only does it beautifully illustrate the passing of generational trauma, it also shows the complex relationship with lestat and having a family. he doesnāt know how to love in a way that isnāt painful, either to himself or others.
wow heās the prettiest man alive
fascinating dog
Daniel is the youngest vampire ever!
The Vampire Armand THE VAMPIRE LESTAT (2026ā) 3.07 "The Failures"
"...and Armand had been so delighted, laughing and laughing like a schoolboy as he sat watching, with folded arms. It was the first time Daniel had ever heard that soft, silky laughter. So seductive. He got drunk as fast as he could."
ā The Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice
people asking why armand did that. have u never not been loved. have u never wanted to be seen and whole and wanted and loved. louis called him the love of his life. and then thew him against a wall and spoke to him as if he was a dog and left him. that was enough for him. he wanted to be seen. he wanted, for once, to be a person and not a thing
i enjoyed this season⦠perhaps it was the abrupt change in form that threw many people off? of course there is criticism to be made, like everything, but i donāt think it grossly boils down to ābad writingā. itās important to remember this is an adaptation that is intentionally bold and made for two parts, AND that it is from lestatās point of view (Lestat himself in the shows states that when tertiary characters make an appearance he will be narrating for them, and the parts left out were perhaps not witnessed or heard by him, or lestat didnāt deem them important in his current story.)
Iāll articulate my thoughts and feelings in regards to the last two episodes and the season as whole at some point, but thatās my initial main thought and takeaway. probably after a rewatch. so subject to change, i guess!
anyhow, whether you liked it or hated it the cast did a phenomenal job!
GET. AI. OUT. OF. FANDOM. Stop making headcanons with it, stop making fanfic with it, stop making fanart with it. If I see one more "asking chatgpt *blank* about *character/characters in a fandom* I'm going to lose my goddamn mind. Use your own fucking brain, stop asking AI to do everything. You could even ask other real people what they think. Just. Stop. Using. AI. In. Creative. Spaces.
i am TRYING to not concerning myself with the obnoxious Americans on the degenerate bird app who keep spoiling the finale WITHOUT ANY warning! i just wanted to check the amc twitter profile, i did not need to be minutely spoiled without a chance to scroll away!?
i was only spoiled a screenshot from the episode with no context but still i would have rather not seen anything! anyways psa for everyone avoid that site, people are dumb. but thatās to be expected from that placeā¦. maybe itās really my fault for even being on there š
