Obviously, this is an Adam Driver/Ben Solo blog, and @aurora521 is my side blog for my fanfics which include Reylo. I imagine I'll probably get some asks about the accusations against Adam and my thoughts, so here they are.

TW: Violence, Abuse, Workplace Violence

As a feminist, I believe we should listen to the voices of all women, especially when they are speaking about abuse from men in positions of power/prominence/etc. When anyone accuses someone of abuse or violence, their voice should be heard.

There is a line between victim blaming/not believing a victim and immediately cancelling a suspected abuser. That's where I am, personally. There should be a discussion about this situation, and yes, we need more facts and a better translation. I do think Adam should speak on this, regardless of the truth of the accusation.

Adam Driver fans are allowed to take time and figure out what this means to them and if and how they will continue to be fans of him and his characters. Unfortunately, these are rarely black and white situations, and fans should not be condemned for not immediately cancelling him. Finding out that someone you like might be violent is not as easy as flipping a switch to suddenly not like that person.

Now, here are my specific thoughts given what I know and have heard. These will probably and should evolve as more information comes out.

As a psychology major, I know two people can experience the same thing and view it differently and that this different understanding doesn't make one person's views wrong. Having seen Adam act, he can be a very aggressive, scary person. As I understand the story, he acted aggressively toward a chair, using the chair as a 'stand-in' for the actress. (In an extreme, this would be like a man who throws plates or flips tables when he's angry at his wife but never hits her. There's a term for this, but I can't remember.) My thoughts are that in this situation Adam's action were interpreted by some as acting and by others as going to far and behaving in a scary, inappropriate way. Both views can be right, but I do believe that if this is the case Adam does owe this woman an apology. Intentionally or not, this made her feel unsafe and women should not have to feel unsafe ever. Also, this is something he needs to be able to manage on future sets by communicating what he's doing, warning actors, etc.

In short, I'm still writing fics and running my little blog with it's 50 followers because this is what I believe. We don't have all the facts. More information might and should change my mind, and we need to remember that stanning someone doesn't mean silencing people who speak out about them or devaluing victim's and women's voices and experiences. Just because there is no court case or because she didn't speak out sooner or because no one else has said anything, doesn't mean this didn't happen.

These aren't my complete thoughts, but it's what I have now. I'm happy to respond to asks about any of this and get more information if people have it. This makes sense in my head, but communication is hard. I'd rather take asks and clarify what I mean than have people be angry with me.

OOC — As if the Windows service scam in June wasn't bad enough, my (elderly) mother was mugged in my building and had her purse snatched. Someone managed to stop the thief to get the bag but he had already taken the money, nothing else was stolen. However, he had a knife, and managed to get away... Luckily my mother only has scratches and bruises, but she is in shock. The police have been informed but it's getting worrying, it's a series of traumatic events for her. If we have to, we'll consider carrying pepper spray...

PS: I'm putting this blog in Semi-Hiatus until further notice because extreme heatwaves + traumatic events in my family is killing my mood to write at all.
