fun fact! schizophrenics can be trusted to be around or use dangerous machines and materials.
example: at my job i use lots of different potentially dangerous things like sharp tools, industrial sewing machines, power tools, heat blocks up to 530°F, industrial tumblers, leather branders and welding machines. i have never sustained or inflicted any injuries, besides accidentally giving myself a small scratch or burn, just like everyone else at my job from time to time. my boss knows im schizophrenic and she trusts me. i know myself well and i feel safe working with these machines and materials.
this doesnt apply to every schizophrenic, just like it doesnt apply to everyone in general. but those of us who do this line of work should be trusted. schizophrenia itself doesnt automatically make a person more dangerous, willing to inflict harm, or accident prone. i am not telling people with schizophrenia to start these kinds of jobs, but i am saying its possible, and we can be safe and reliable workers.
