It was going to be a cute post about how I took Taravali out for a hike. She got a little messy and had burs in her hair so I cleaned her up and now everyone’s cuddling.
It’s not cute. It’s not fun. She got into seed ticks. I want to burn everything. NOT just little ticks. Freakishly tiny ticks that attack in droves. I shaved her down with a 3mm but even if she was completely bald it wouldn’t have helped much. I used a lot of Wondercide before the hike so we didn’t really have any problems with the normal sized ticks but I didn’t spray her paws which is where I’m finding a lot of these monsters. My day/evening/night has been spent doing damage control. Hopefully her preventative will knockout them out before they get too far.
I just pulled a tick off one of my dog's ears now I feel itchy...

Goretober Day 21: Parasited. Illagers can get a high tick burden if they spend a lot of time in the deep woods and brush. It is difficult for them to pluck off ticks as their claws and bigger fingers present a challenge when removing small bugs, so they either get treated when back home or they pour alcohol on the pests or apply mud to get them to drop off on their own.
PSA: take precautions against ticks. tuck your socks and shirt into your pants if you’re going through tall grass, cover your head if you’re going under trees, use bug spray (unless you have a stance against the chemicals, in which case there are a lot of natural repellents you can use too), take off your outdoor clothes as soon as you get inside and rinse off immediately.
I just found three ticks on myself and they are tiny and very easy to miss. pictured on a toilet paper square:
outdoor gallivanting is very fun and good for you!!!! but please be aware of these little buggers because they can be so so dangerous and they’re evil. also support your local possum population because they eat ticks and are beautiful and sometimes climb trees as a surprise
Learning more about things means I tend to like (appreciate?) them more (better?). Is this true for people who study things like ticks? Anyone got some cool facts about ticks that might make them a little less...repulsive?
