He has compared autistics to Frankienstiens monster specifically saying that he knows an autistic with an iq of 1 1/2

He pauses for a nanosecond, then continues to talk: “And it upsets me those 17-year-olds were coming to the end of their care. Because after that they’re supposed to head into employment and earn revenue for their government. Ha. Because from early on you’re empiricised in that Orwellian sense.” Cumberbatch also highlights the issue with the end of adult services which is a problem for many of us. However it’s due greatly to laws stereotypes ,and ideas similar to the one he brings up in the previous quote....

There is a reason comments like this and ableism is deeply offensive ,and wrong. One because of the deep history that if you researched absolutely coorilates with evidence. However in not allowing autistics to headcanon characters as thier identities you are implying there is something wrong with our identities. It’s even more dangerous when you strip us of headcanoning one of our few of our celebrated historical figures. Third it prepetuates streotypes in autistic culture that autistic = less than.

Not to mention autistics have been killed murdered and Eugenisized throughout history for being “Monsters.” Burned for being changelings. Hung for being witches. Used as a troupe and horror movie villains. So for Cumberbatch to use disabled folks and autistics as inspiration for monsters is ABSOLUTELY inappropriate. Especially in a political climate where many politicians are asking to bring back asylums.

Lastly the reason it upsets me so much is much of Cumberbatches career is made by playing disabled characters.(which is problematic when actual disabled people are not given the chance in mainstream media especially not mentally disabled folks. Name one autistic actor/actress who is openly out about it.) He shuns the community he has made his career off of.

An Open Letter to Benedict Cumberbatch

Why as an autistic I disagree with the idea Witcher is Abelist.

Let’s begin The Mighty and other such sites have warned of Abelism in The Witcher because Yennifer a woman born with a Hunchback goes through a transformation that makes her look diffrent.

Point 1: once she “removes.” Her disability She says she’d rather be disabled than ablebodied and I think that’s more powerful after having a character experience both.

Point 2: Everyone else including ablebodied people go through this Ritual at Aratuza.

Point 3: This show is the first I’ve seen with a Disabled/Ablebodied kiss nevermind going further. She is reaffirmed by others for her beauty while she’s disabled and learns to be confident

Point 4: Her disability isn’t what drives her to do go through the transformation she does it because she wants people to see her the way she feels about herself she wants control over her life. Which is the first time I’ve seen a show bring attention to the way disabled people are treated at all. They choose to bring attention to a very real issue for disabled women and that is not feeling in control. Hence nothing about me without me

Point 5:If Yennifer was abelist she wouldn’t be as strong a female character. You never see abelism depicted in media or drawn attention too the way they treat her at the beginning is very real for a lot of people. Disabled Women Don’t have many strong Disabled women who fight for what they want in media nevermind have love interests.

Point 6: Yennifer also had to give up her ferility too not be disabled a metaphor for the forced sterilization across America since Buck vs Bell has never been repealed.

Point 7: The articles written calling The Witcher Abelist were written by The Mighty and reposted to Yahoo which supports autism speaks and has refused to stop.

The Mighty & Autism Speaks, Part Deux

Yesterday, I wrote a letter to The Mighty about their support of the hate group Autism Speaks. This was their response.

TUMBLR, WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

And I am going to have a rant.  A TWO PART RANT. PART THE FIRST- ABELIST GARBAGE.

I don't know if anyone here is familiar with the asinine 'reviewer', Occritiques. 

To begin with, not only is this shit head an idiot, their 'critiques' are childish, often stupid, incorrect, and not anything remotely helpful or 'critiquey', and I don't honestly know why people keep giving this douche nozzle anything to review. They have no idea how to write a review, no idea how to critique anything, and their own writing they are SO PROUD OF is utter garbage. Trash. I've read better from preteens just learning.  Seriously. It's boring, bland, stuff, uninteresting, unengaging, and overall the most awkwardly worded word vomit I have ever seen. I shit you not, tumblr- TWILIGHT IS BETTER THEN THIS PERSON'S WRITING. I WOULD RATHER READ THE ENTIRE TWILIGHT 'SAGA' THEN ANYTHING THIS PERSON EVER WROTE. What prompted this, you may ask, this vicious attack? Well, I was content to pretend this trashbag didn't exist- until my friend sent me a link of one of their reveiws so blatently abelist and shitty that I couldn't take it anymore.  Now, 'Occritiques' is an asshole in general. This shit stain uses 'critique' as a cover to be 'rude fucking sexist racist aggressive closed-minded nasty human garbage' all the time.  They are rude, they are mean, they are using 'oh, but I critique things' as an excuse to be as nasty and shitty to people as they want. But this just- crossed the line. 

They point blank, direct quote, informed a  submitter on the austism spectrum that they 'felt uncomfortable reviewing anything sent in by an autistic person.' 

WHAT THE FUCK, SCUMBAG. 

Allow me to begin by saying that unless directly told, your stupid  ass has no way of knowing if the person submitting to you is autistic, bipolar, schizophrenic, adhd, or anything else under the sun. And it 110% SHOULD NEVER FUCKING MATTER. EVER. NEVER.  A person's quality of writing and ability to take- PROPER- critique is something you can never predict. A completely neuro typical person might have a fucking mental breakdown over being told they can't write for shit, where as someone neuro atypical might be perfectly fucking fine. Each person is a- get this, gasp shock- unique HUMAN BEING.  To treat someone like a fucking idiot or child and be blatantly condescending and rude to them because of them being on the spectrum makes you garbage.  Oh, and they were. Talking down to them even more then usual, acting as they they were slow or stupid- it was painful to see. 

Not only that, but ok. Ok, some people are into fetishes others are not But SHAMING SOMEONE, OUTRIGHT, AGRESSIVELY, AND BLATENTLY ALL BUT TELLING THEM THEY ARE DISGUSTING FOR ROMANTICISING A CREEPYPASTA CHARACTER IS FUCKING FOUL.  YOU DON'T FUCKING SHAME SOMEONE FOR THAT. IF SOMEONE'S KINKS, FETISHES, TURN ONS, AND ATTRACTIONS ARE NOT YOURS, FINE. BUT YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO EDGE RIGHT UP TO CALLING THEM 'GROSS' AND MOCK THEM FOR IT.  YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED UPON TO CRITIQUE WRITING, NOT SOMEONE'S PERSONAL DESIRES.   I strongly suggest that we make Occritiques obsolete, tumblr. Past this post around. Blacklist them among the community.  If you want critique, go somewhere else. ANYWHERE else.  You deserve better. You deserve REAL critique by someone who, themselves, can actually produce engaging and interesting writing.  RANT PART TWO: HOW. FUCKING. DARE YOU. TRY TO USE YOUR AUTISM AS A 'GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD'. No. This is not acceptable, this is not okay, and this pisses me off as much as anything Pisshead up there did. 

You having spelling mistakes and 'iffy terminology', and 'childish mistakes' - you're blaming that solely on your being on the  autism spectrum? What? No. Go fuck yourself. 

Own up and stop looking for a free pass. It could not be more clear that you want people to give you special treatment.  I have a best friend.on the austim spectrum, and  I'll tell you right now- she is one of the absolute best writers I have EVER had the privilege to roleplay with. Her creativity, characters, descriptions, lore, and world building is mind boggling. She puts me to shame in SO MANY ways. 

And she and I both are infuriated by your trying to blame your short-comings entirely on being on the autistim spectrum. 

If you know you aren't as good a writer as you want to be, try harder. Work harder. IMPROVE YOURSELF. Do not sit there and whine OMG THIS IS THE BEST I CAN DO I'M AUTISTIC/ ON THE SPECTRUM SO BE NICE. 

It's good you're trying to improve. Good on you. 

But how dare you.
