My methods for finding fic on Livejournal because I have war flashbacks of before AO3 and before it actually was a well known site.
I have no clue how other people searched for stuff so I might have been doing it wrong so idk. But people used to be shocked on how much I had when I recced stuff in fic rec communities so maybe I was doing something right.
Go to a community for that fandom.
There will be many communities.
If the gods favor you, there might be a living kink meme
A more well established fandom might even have a living fic rec community
But mostly there will be pairing communities and regular general communities for that fandom
Most will be dead, but still have fic attached to them so you might as well look.
In all of the living communities that aren’t dead you are at the mercy of the organizational skills of the mods for that particular community and what they will allow in that community
If you’re lucky all of the tags will be put in a sidebar for easy access.
If you get lucky you might find a rec list of fandom classics or just rec lists period
If it’s allowed you can make a post for people to rec you stuff
But regardless, you are still going to start with one fic and one author on their single one (1) livejournal account .
You read through all of the authors stuff and they might rec other peoples fic in their own rec lists.
You continue this pattern of digging.
Branching off from author to author
Sometimes you can’t access a fic because that Authors livejournal page is friendlocked so no one but their friends can see it and they might not be using it anymore so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for you and contacting them to friend you. Maybe some kind soul will have a copy of it.
Or some Authors account will suddenly be friendlocked and they are NOT accepting friends ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for you and maybe some kind soul will have a copy of it.
I was so glad to get off of that spiderweb labyrinth I used to dig through
