Ya know what? I'm actually gonna elaborate on why Luca gets so much joy from being so sarcastic with Adam, giving him shit, and calling out his bullshit. And it all ties back to Rebecca.
Make no mistake, Luca literally has the best relationship with her possible in game. Yes it hurt not having her around, but she was the only family he had. For better or worse he loves & respects her in spite of all the hard times he went through growing up alone. Like she says in game, he made alot of allowances for her for their relationship to be as strong as it is. He put in the work at such a young age and was happy to do so.
But everything she got a pass on? Adam doesn't. He's not gonna do the whole "Smile, nod, and be grateful for whatever scraps of affection you get without complaint" schtick he's done with his mother. He wants NEEDS someone who at BARE MINIMUM wants to try. But Adam isn't doing that so he's getting the sass.
And he gets it, he really does, the blonde twit has plenty of shit he's gotta work through. And Luca WANTS to help, because for everything he puts him through seeing Adam hurt feels like a cavernous pit in his chest. But can't do anything for him if Adam isn't at least willing to try. It honestly makes him HATE the "good times" after the fact. Not only cause "See? This is how things could be if he let himself be happy." but also because nobody likes having the rug pulled out from under them time & time again.
Man is hurt and is choosing to retaliate the best way he knows how. Cause he'll be damned if Adam knows just how much of a toll his actions are really taking on him, in his mind he doesn't deserve it.
