the hero with no fear
"Do you want to continue being a vigilante?" Batman asked his new ward Danny aka Phantom.
Danny stopped, looked confused and glanced at the batfamily like he didn't understand what was asked. " want? What does 'want' have to do with anything? I became a vigilante because I was needed, because I was the only one capable. Are you Batman because you wanted to be or because you were needed. Does anyone become a hero because they want to be or because they're needed? I wanted to become an astronaut. I never wanted to be a hero and I wasn't wanted as a hero, but I was needed or the people I loved would die. So my question is. Am I needed?"
The entire bat family is staring at him worriedly
For some reason I like Danny and Damian brother stories where they start off with a bad relationship and grow into closeness later. Theres probably some weird psychological reason for this but thats for my therapist to unpack later, for now im gonna express it by making another prompt/idea!!!
Danny is Bruce's Bio Son, and is the same age as Damian BUT they are not twins or full brothers. Danny comes to live with the Waynes(either temporarily or permanently) and for the most part it goes fine.
Danny knows about the bat stuff, and he thinks the Wayne's know about the ghost stuff, but that they have a healthy work-life balance(sweet summer child) and just don't mention it out of the suit, so he never brings it up either. In reality they have no clue about the ghost stuff and are waiting to bring up the bat stuff until they're closer with Danny.
Anyway, Damian has come a long way since joining the family, but hes still frustrated by Danny's appearance, and he can't take it out on Danny like he does Tim, so he lashes out a little differently. He doesn't aim to kill, but he does shove, trip, say some scathing remarks, and a few times, lock Danny in spare rooms. He makes sure to do this when no one else is around, and only in the house. What's annoying, is that Danny doesn't seem bothered by any of it, nor does he tell Bruce or Alfred or anyone else. He doesn't act in ways that make Damian feel justified, Danny's lack of response, and the way he just accepts what Damian is doing to him, just makes Damian feel worse, which makes him lash out more.
On Danny's end, none of this bothers him because hes used to it. Dash has done this stuff to him and worse, Danny's just relieved that Damian hasn't tried to seriously hurt him. He knows the situation isn't okay, but what can he do? Whenever he went to anyone about Dash's treatment of him, everyone would just tell him to ignore Dash and be the bigger person, and Danny's pretty sure the same will happen here, so unless Damian crosses a line, Danny has no plans to retaliate.
Not sure how it would come to an end. Maybe Damian takes things to far and if Danny were a normal person he would have gotten seriously injured/Maybe Danny does get seriously injured because Damian brought in something he knew Danny was Allergic to? Or Damian does something thats not even that bad but its just the last straw and Danny lashes out back? Maybe Bruce/Alfred/Dick connect the dots on all the accidents Danny's been having and now the boys are in family therapy together?
Late night ✨angst✨
