Jaret mashed his thumbs into the controller under his hands, one on the analog, the other on the shape-covered directional pad. He hissed through his teeth, tongue pressed to the backs of them, as his character on screen became injured. The tv flashed red, but Jaret never looked away from the screen. He was pretty sure that Bee had been talking to him and was now looking expectantly at him, but his mind buzzed as he watched the screen start up again and the chase began anew. When the tension beside him continued to grow, he mumbled out a quiet, “Mhm -- yeah--” to fill in the gaps of silence, concentration completely given to the game before him, expecting Bee to continue her talking while he played, thinking nothing of it.
