After watching Evolution, I was pretty sure I'd become quite desensitised. I thought I'd never give a damn about who died on the show (I, quite wholeheartedly, hope and believe that they aren't going to kill Daryl off anytime soon, so yeah.) But damn! The Calm Before really hit right where I was hurt before. I was not prepared.
But I guess we're not allowed to not talk about the Bury Your Gays trope for God's sake. Obviously, some deaths are oh so importantly inevitable, and sometimes, as they said, required for powerful impact on the story (read Paul Rovia) and different kinds of blahs. It's just a mere coincidence if the handful of gays start dying one by one, right? Plus, they can't carry the entire load of representation on their fragile backs, now can they?
Good lord! I don't even know anymore what I expect from this show.
