Maybe she turns up to the cabin w/ Clementine (she was w/ Clem before and is sorta like a mother figure and Luke is just a lil fuckin whipped for her and really likes her and it's really obvious to everyone else and eventually they confess to each other and it's just a really soft moment
“How’s your arm, Clem?” You asked the young girl as you walked beside her, in between the rest of the group you had met up with. You still weren’t quite sure of the rest of them, especially because of how they treated Clementine when they saw she was bit, even with yours and her insistence that it was a dog. You had warned the girl to be careful and avoid it, but she was a kid, you didn’t blame her for quickly getting attached to it and trying to befriend it.
The past few years had been total hell. You had met Clem and Lee early on, meeting them on the farm, being a family friend of Kenny and Katjaa, being an unofficial god daughter to them, and you had been a frequent babysitter for Duck for them to help get some money as you were in college, though that was put on hold when the apocalypse started. You were one of the few people Lee trusted to look after Clementine due to your experience with babysitting, and Clem took to you quickly. Lee was almost double your age at the time, so it was no surprise that he also grew a bit protective of you as well.
God, you missed Lee. You wish you’d gone with him to go get Clem, but he talked you out of it, and when you found out what happened, and what Clem had to do… you swore then and there that you’d take his place, and protect that little girl. You refused to let her out of your sight, and after experience of seeing how shitty people could be, you were reluctant to take your eyes off the girl with this new group of strangers. However, there was one exception…
“It’s okay, it doesn’t hurt anymore.” Clem assured you, showing you the bandaging, and you smiled at her, one of your hands subconsciously putting itself on her shoulder. You felt eyes looking at you from behind, and while you’d be paranoid, you knew whose eyes they were. Luke’s. Luke was one of the kinder members of the group, he reminded you a lot of Lee, though he was a lot closer to your age. You liked him because he was fair, and he often checked in on you and Clem, and after explaining what happened two years ago, he understood why you were so protective of the young girl in your care, and he’s had your back up to now, having stood up for you when conflict occured. “Luke’s staring at you again.” Clem whispered to you.
“I’ve noticed.” You chuckled to her, and when you looked back down at her, you saw her get a look in her eye, and a playful smile. “What’s that look for?” You asked her, suspiciously. She just grinned a bit more before she sped up, going to walk beside Nick, apparently to ask him something. You were a little confused at first, until you noticed the spot beside you had been filled by Luke. “Hey.”
“Hey, just came to check in on you. You’re always so busy checking in on Clem, you barely give yourself any time to check in on yourself. How’re you feeling?” He asked you.
“Considering the circumstances… alright. Hopefully we’ll find somewhere safe soon, before it gets dark. Camping out isn’t on my to do list.” You commented, getting a soft chuckle from him.
“We’ll be fine, if we do have to camp out, I’ll be sure to stick close to you and Clem and stay awake so you can get some rest for once.” He assured you, and you smiled at him.
“Thanks Luke, I appreciate it.”
“Clem, I think you’re onto something there.” Nick commented, glancing back at you and Luke, seeing how you two interacted. “He’s whipped.”
“Whipped?” Clem asked, not sure what he meant.
“Head over heels in love, Clem.” Carlos spoke up from just ahead, with a chuckle. Clem smiled, looking back at you both as you continued to talk quietly amongst each other. “Don’t try to interfere, they’ll sort themselves out.” He told her, and she nodded, believing it would happen soon. However, days past, and she was growing impatient. In that time, the group and found another at a Ski resort, and you and Clem were reunited with Kenny, which was emotional to say the least, and she told Kenny and Sarita about Luke being ‘whipped’ by you, which made them both looked a little shock, before she started to explain how close Luke was to you and how he’d vowed to protect you and her, making them realise what she meant and laughed. You two spent quite a while sat with each other, just talking, smiling and laughing, and being happy. It had been a long time since Clem had seen you without stress, genuinely happy, and that made her happy. However, Clem had expressed her impatience to Kenny, who patted her on the back and said he’d be a moment, before he walked up to Luke and asked to talk to him in private. They were gone for quite a bit longer, and for a moment Clem thought that Kenny had took him out back to shoot him like a dog for having feelings for his god daughter, however, soon they came back, and Luke immediately went in the direction of where he’d last seen you, and Kenny gave Clem a thumbs up.
“Hey Y/N, are you busy?” Luke asked you when he finally found you, talking to Rebecca. Before you could speak, Rebecca beat you to it.
“Nah, you’re good, need to go talk to Alvin anyway, talk to you later.” Rebecca assured, giving you a look, similar to Clem had done days prior, and left the room. You gave your full attention to the man, who was rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
“You okay?” You asked him, worried there was something bothering him, or that he had some sort of bad news.
“Yeah um… God, I feel like a fuckin’ school boy again.” He mumbled, though you heard him, and his little comment gave you a very good idea about what was on his mind. You suddenly realised why Clem and Rebecca had been acting weird, and come to think of it, everyone for that matter, always referring to Luke when you had any questions or anything or when you asked if you were needed for anything. “I don’t want to make it awkward between us because of how well we’ve been getting along…”
“Do you like me?” You asked him, seeing his eyes widen, and him get flustered, making you smile. “I’m taking that as a yes.” You told him. He let out a mix of a sigh of relief and a nervous chuckle.
“Yeah, have done for a while, but I know that Clem is your top priority, so I get it if you’re not interested- I won’t let it affect our relationship, and I’ll always have your back-” He rambled, though you stepped forward, and pulled him into a kiss by his shirt. Luke was surprised at first, though he soon melted into it. As the kiss ended, you rested your hands on his shoulders, smiling, his hands resting on your sides.
“I think if you look around, everyone’s been waiting for us to get together, including Clem. I know you’ll always look out for me and Clem, you’re a great guy, and I love you for it.” You assured him, giving him another kiss, before you took his hand. “Let’s go get all the teasing over and done with.”
