top 10 twd characters? and maybe .. why? !
listen, this got real long so i’m just gonna stick to three and slide outta here. (but if you wanna know my actual ten without the reasons, let me know)
she is a bright light, a ray of hope in a world that is too dark and too cold and dying. she puts everyone before herself. she was ready to die for the people she loves and die for the mistakes she had made. she knew that things come at a cost and because she put trust into someone who ripped it apart, she was willing to give everything to make it right. she’s still willing to do that even though the debt has already been paid and arguably wasn’t necessary in the first place. i don’t think she needed redeeming, she’s a good person, she always was. but that didn’t stop her trying to redeem herself anyway even though people told her that it was okay.
she’s lived through guilt and loss and pain, she lost her entire family as well as her partners and she still goes on, still fights and barely makes a sound, barely mutters a single word about her loss because she thinks about the group as a whole. she’s always willing to do whatever it takes to provide for the group, for the betterment of everyone. she’s also super tough and skilled which we don’t really see enough of. she trained in the police academy and was completely driven by this role of protector (which i have so many theories on as to why this is) and those skills and that mindset is still very much with her. but she’s not cold, she carries that guilt and the weight of what she has to do to keep the ones she loves safe, yet she does it anyway regardless to how she feels.
to sum up before i get carried away; tara is overall a good person, a kind person that has the biggest heart. she’s loyal and so brave, and has so much to offer to everyone and to the world. and that is why she is my favourite character. because she is everything i aspire to be and more.
it took me two full seasons to truly appreciate andrea and i’m actually disappointed it took me so long. it was the season two finale when she got left behind and i watched as she fought off walkers continuously for hours. running, running, running… not looking back, not giving up. and after wanting to all that time ago at the cdc because she wanted to die her own way, she didn’t want to potentially be in that position where she could suffer the same fate as her sister. and then she found herself in that situation, on that night. and it only made her fight that much harder. the amount of strength and bravery it would take to go on for that long fighting, not to mention pure stamina, is beyond me.
and then michonne found her and they survived together and she didn’t once blame her group for leaving her. essentially, she had been left behind by her family. and of course, they didn’t know any better because they had to save themselves and they had assumed she was dead, and andrea completely understood that. even when she finally saw them again and they were reunited for the first time since that event, even after how terrible they were treating her upon her arrival, she still didn’t blame them. she didn’t make a snarky comment, she wasn’t angry, she was just relieved. and the amount of strength that takes is amazing.
she’s just such a human character. it’s the word that comes to mind when i think of her. HUMAN. she wanted to fight for the good of everyone. she wanted to be able to save everyone. she made some mistakes as all humans do. but her primary goal was always to try and save the people she loved, and even the people she didn’t. she would have given her life for the people at the prison and at woodbury if it meant stopping the war that was about to unfold and inevitably she did. in her last words; ‘i tried.’ and she did. it’s all she ever did. she never gave up and always tried for everyone and that’s why i love her.
glenn was my favourite character straight away and the reason why is because even though the world was falling to destruction around him, he still had hope. he could still somehow, amongst the ruins, try to look for the light. he wouldn’t let the world change him. he’d be laughing, or making a joke, making a bad situation light hearted to brighten the groups mood. and above it all, whatever he was and still is feeling inside, he does this because he is selfless. he wants to be the type of person that can lift people up, even if he’s down. he’ll take you by the hand and he’ll say ‘we’re in this together.’ and it makes all the difference on the group and i think, ultimately, on himself, too.
glenn has time and time again, stuck his neck out for people. even people he didn’t know, that could potentially be a threat. he’s been taken, beaten, almost killed on multiple occasions and yet somehow he finds the strength to go on and fights back twice as hard at whatever comes his way. he would do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe, including putting himself in harms way. he’d rather die for someone than leave them. he’d rather try and help than not help at all. regardless of the outcome, whether people turn out to be a threat or not. he’ll stay and help, he’ll go back for you. he’ll do anything. to put it simply; he is good. he has such a good soul. and such an underrated character.
