Hi there! I just discovered your podcast. What a fantastic idea to do this! I was wondering if you have an index of some kind so that I can find episodes from specific fandoms. I was also wondering how you pick authors to interview.

Hey @catantmblr! Thank you so much for reaching out. I am SCREAMING with joy right now, but more on that in a minute!
I am so happy to hear you've discovered FFM and like the concept! The podcast is my love letter to fanfiction, and I firmly believe that fic writers deserve to be heard and celebrated. Storytelling matters. What ya'll do MATTERS, and this is what my work with FFM is all about.
Someday I would love to organize my episodes into an easy index, but alas the post-production process currently takes up all my free time at the moment. I DO include a #fandomname in the title of each episode so that folks can see the specific fandom covered in that episode. If you go to www.fanficmaverickpodcast.com and then click the Podcast Episodes link you can see all the posted episodes in one place and then you can check the hashtag in the episode titles for the fandoms we've covered so far. We have 54 fandom-specific episodes so far, plus a few rando episodes thrown in just for fun!
I pick fanfiction authors a few different ways. Sometimes I reach out to specific writers on Tumblr and ask them on. Sometimes folks contact me and nominate their favorite fic writer. Sometimes fic writers contact me directly and ask to come on. All valid ways! This year I put out a Tumblr call and simply asked for volunteers, and the response was FANTASTIC! FFM's interview schedule is pretty full this year, but fic writers who want to come on are always welcome to contact me here on Tumblr or at [email protected] and I'm always happy to get them scheduled in even if the wait is long.
Now for the SCREAMING part! Those who know me best are aware that I'm a fandom nomad. Rather than having a permanent fandom home, I prefer to wander about like a traveling wizard. I spend cycles rabidly consuming fanfiction for specific fandoms, and once that happens the fandom will become a part of me and I will love it forever and return to it often.
I started an entire re-watch of The Walking Dead back in January for SCIENCE, in order to track Daryl Dixon's character evolution. (For SCIENCE, she stubbornly says!) Buried neck-deep in TWD, I naturally went looking for TWD fanfiction, as one does.
So many of my favorite TWD fanfictions were written by YOU!!! I love your stories, and I know your name, and now here you are in my ask box and THAT is why I am SCREAMING! Receiving messages from writers I know and adore feels like a celebrity just slid into my DMs and said hello.
Thank you for sharing your stories with the world, and with me. Your work has made me feel, and made me think, and given me countless hours of joy. Here's to many more.
Keep on rollin' my friend!
