Sarah still has the original version of Baymax, in all its pink sparkly glory, tucked away in a keepsake box. Though the AI and tech keep getting upgraded and improved upon, that first one will always have a special place in her heart.

Though she has been in love with EJ since she was like four, it still took them forever to get together. Partly due to EJ’s difficulty putting his feelings into words and partly due to Sarah thinking EJ would prefer someone more…flashy. Exciting.

Their first date was technically a charity gala. EJ asked Sarah to be his plus one and keep him company for the evening. Their second date was to see whatever Disney movie was out at the time – having been dropped off at the mall by their parents. Dinner was California Pizza Kitchen and oh did they feel SO GROWN UP.

It’s true. They’ve broken curfew. But only once and it was, legitimately, due to a flat tire. Unfortunately, no parent EVER believes that excuse (even with it’s the truth). 

Sarah is determined to get her dad and EJ to like one another. To prove to him that EJ is not his father (or his siblings). I mean, just look at how he takes care of her.

He wasn’t supposed to be here, and yet somehow Tony was glad that he wasn’t alone when it happened. That he wasn’t stuck back at the tower or in the workshop watching monitors. He was glad that in those final moments EJ would have someone there and not have to face this horror alone. Glad, of course, being a relative term.

“Hey-- hey, it’s fine buddy, you’re okay,” choked words hiccuping from his chest. Pete’s remains still fresh on his jacket and pretty soon his own kid would be there too. But Tony wouldn’t let him go, not ever. And he would fix this; because that’s what he does, right? He fixes things. And then he fucks them up again and now they are in this shit storm of a situation that involves the thing he is most afraid of unraveling before his eyes.

And all he can do is watch.

Shaky fingers drift through the hair on the back of EJ’s head, keeping the kid safe and tucked into his father’s chest. Same as he did when he was little and afraid, providing some amount of last moment comment. “I’m here, Edwin, I got you. I got you (now and always).”

“Look!” She presented him with the cupcake -- a cupcake still surprisingly intact, save for a bit of smudging with the icing. “I mades you this. You and Papa. He already got his. Momma helped some, but it was mostly me.”

For as much as anything could be ‘mostly’ a three year old. Mostly she put the sprinkles on. And ate some batter. Everything else was kind of Sarah.

MCU (age gap) Verse

1. As much as she said otherwise, Sarah hated when EJ went away to school. She may annoy the crap out of him sometimes (just as he annoys the crap out of her), but he’s a part of her. And having him so far away hurt.

2. As they haven’t built up the walls Shane has, EJ and Sarah often feed off of each others’ emotions. This was especially true when they were little and often lead to the tiny baby and six year old throwing tantrums at the same time.

3. When they were little, Sarah was undeniably closer to Shane. After all, he helped raise her. But now that they’re adults, things have evened out and there are even some things that they are more in sync with each other about then either of them are with Shane.

4. The day she got to become Shane and EJ’s wife was the happiest day of her life.

(for Bucky)

1.There has been, on more than one occasion, some late night cuddles after Bucky moves into the tower. Mostly because sometimes Buck just needs someone there to assure him he’s safe now and Tony is the only one awake. And they don’t talk about it.

2. They fight over the Netflix queue.

3.Tony may tease Bucky with fridge magnets and low blows about his arm; but he has the schematics saved in his files in case something were ever to go wrong so he could work on fixing or making him a new one.

4. Bucky has told Tony if he hurts Steve he will hurt him. While Tony would never do this intentionally he is always worried he will end up hurting them both.

(for EJ)

1. EJ helped Tony build his very own AI system for his room. He is the first and youngest to do so and Tony is hella proud.

2. They both suffer from I’m not good enough disease. It’s a shitty trait to be passed on and one Tony constantly feels guilty for.

3.EJ has never been sold on craigslist...

4.School was tough, since EJ is as much of a night owl as Tony. It came with a lot of missed days and Tony arguing that even if his kid wasn’t always awake in class, he was smarter than the damn teacher.

Escaping from his bedroom had been easy; he had just waited until he was sure his mom was sleeping or busy with paperwork. Either way, it had been quiet and he had managed to sneak down to find his dad.

EJ laid his head on his father’s shoulder as soon as he was picked up, still not entirely tired but his dad was comfortable.

“Yeah,“ there had been too much going on in the youngest Stark’s brain for him to try to fall asleep when his mom had put him to bed. Once Tony laid down with him, EJ nestled into his chest and pillowed his head near the reactor, his fingers resting lightly against the light coming from his father’s chest. There was a quiet giggle over the comment about his mom taking pictures once he was comfortable.

“Iron Man suits.“

Oh, the pictures would come. Plastered all over the fridge and used as the background for anything remotely techy. If it involved Tony and EJ having a chance, adorable and candid moment...there was photographic proof. 

He hummed, pulling up the blankets until they were both covered, fingers moving up and down the youngest Stark’s back. It helped Tony get to sleep, even now, maybe it would help EJ as well. 

“Okay- easy enough. Mark I, Mark II, Mark III--” Tony paused, brow lifting, chin lowering as far as it would go so he could look at his son. “You do know we’re gonna be counting for a while, right? J could just put on cartoons.”

Jarvis looked up from the list he had been making, offering EJ a small smile. Though he might be feeling a bit tired, it wasn’t something he was going to burden him with.
