No one expected the blond teenager visiting Okinawa with his friends to be able to keep up when he challenged Adam to a beef, but surprisingly, they're neck-and-neck. The guy is fast and capable of pulling off stunts that Reki was definitely going to rewatch the recordings of later to figure out how he did that. Cherry said he skated a bit like Joe using a lot of power and force "though with slightly more grace," he added dryly. (And of course they started bickering about that comment, which everyone tuned out as usual.)
When Adam starts gearing up for a Full Swing Kiss, Reki preemptively winces. No matter how good the guy is, someone new to S wouldn't be able to predict it, especially not at that speed. That move still gives him nightmares sometimes even though he had successfully evaded it that one time. This won't be pretty.
But then, instead of getting knocked down, the blond kicks up his board, launches himself in the air--and lands directly on Adam's face.
Reki's jaw drops. A startled hush falls over S before the crowd bursts into a cacophony of screaming and yelling. The guy's friends and sister standing nearby all grimace, except for the silver-haired one who just starts cackling.
On-screen, Adam is still on the ground. Unconscious? That landing was strong enough to knock him unconscious?
His opponent has stopped, seeming to have realized what just happened. He looks sheepish. The drones get close enough for the microphones to pick up his voice. "Shit," he says. "Man, for a second I thought I was fightin' some asshole Reaper again. My bad, force of habit." Reki's eyes widen. What kind of skating goes on in... Where did he say he was from again? Shibuya?
The guy's orange-haired friend with the high purple collar slaps a hand over his face and groans, "Oh my god Beat."
