Twigpaw chapter? Twigpaw chapter.
thunder and shadow, page 194
twigbranch is way more emotionally disregulated than i remember and im living for it. this reread is just making me love her more and i hope you enjoy this comic i very quickly whipped up
i LOVE ivypool as twigpaw's mentor in avos. she is so so so wonderful and gets to really shine as a character. she is consistently kind, understanding, and attentive to twigpaw and her emotions and needs. she goes out of her way and visibly sets her own emotions and problems aside to treat twigpaw fairly and talk to her in a rational, reasonable way multiple times; and when she makes a mistake, she admits her mistake, explains her reasoning or emotions, and apologizes to twigpaw. we get to see her character growth from the previous arc, as well as her current character growth, and i love it.
when twigpaw sees her again after leaving for skyclan, ivypool is hurt and angry, but pushes her anger away to make sure her former apprentice knows she still cares about her and respects her decision, even though it hurts. when ivypool votes against going to find twigpaw's dad and skyclan, she later apologizes for not recognizing how important that was to her and for not standing up for twigpaw, and explains that she didn't want tigerheart and dovewing travelling together, and that she didn't intend to fight against twigpaw.
and then she has kits and she's just out of the way in the nursery and we barely ever see her for the rest of the arc. it is so, so, so frustrating to see her sidelined after she is such an important character and figure in twigpaw's life. especially after twigpaw comes back to thunderclan and is feeling like no one trusts her. she has ivypool RIGHT THERE, and the book refuses to ever acknowledge her except for like two lines about her and her kits.
and that's not even mentioning the fact that she has a lovely character moment with fernsong about how he could help raise their kits and support her when she's not sure she wants kits, only for him never to be mentioned in the same sentence as them. she is a strong, supportive mentor figure for twigpaw, and an equal partner with fernsong who is unsure about motherhood, only for her to all but disappear from twigpaw's life and be entirely relegated to motherhood and raising kits.
