━━━ i'm always here * [ charlie swan x fem!daughter!reader ]
reader is getting married to edward, and develops cold feet--but their dad, charlie, is already to the rescue.
i've returned from my little hiatus after writing block. :)
Your feet were practically trembling underneath your weight as you listened to the chatter of your invited guests--your wedding day was here. Time seemed to have gone by so fast and you felt as though you didn’t sleep enough. And even so, you required little cosmetics to make your skin seem glass-like and angelic.
“I see someone’s ready to get married,” your torso whipped around in the direction of the deep voice--and a smile was brought to your visage at the sight. You launched forward into the familiar scent of the physique in front of you and buried your face into your sheriff father’s shoulder.
After releasing the hug and grasping onto the older man’s hands tightly for support, you sighed, “I’m so glad you’re here, dad.”
Charlie’s face contorted into one of what seemed to be hesitation of what was to come. His brown eyes flickering back and forth between the aisle and you, his dress-clad daughter. Hair done in a (hair style), makeup, and of course, obnoxiously large bouquet grasped tightly in your hands.
And then it hit him, his daughter was getting married. His firstborn.
He cleared his throat when you called to him and pulled him from his thoughts briefly; arm extended outward for you to loop your own into. “Are you ready?”
You inhaled deeply and were about to say that you were--but nope! You kept on breathing a couple more times. “Uhh, yeah! Yeah! I’m… I’m ready.”
It took what seemed like forever to reach your soon-to-be husband. But on your father’s arm, it seemed to never take that long to begin with. Your eyes kept flickering between yourself, Charlie and your beautiful lover, Edward. But you couldn’t help your breath catching in your throat when you realized just how many people were standing there staring at you.
You were about to freeze in your tracks -- but Charlie wasn’t about to let that happen. He squeezed your hand slightly in encouragement, smiling all the way. “You’re almost there, (your name), just a few more steps,” he whispered dotingly into your vicinity.
Charlie was right--once you were in the arms of Edward nothing mattered. You turned your head to smile at your dad, (eye color) eyes twinkling in delight when you were now standing before the priest and your husband-to-be. It was time to let you go now.
He seemed hurt by the revelation that he wouldn't be able to protect his little girl the way he used to anymore. Someone else had taken on that task, leaving him with only Isabella, your sister, to care for. Of course there would always be times when you’d meet hardships as that’s what marriage was, but, you were always welcome home.
Advancing forward to press his lips to your cheek, and grasping your hand rather tightly, he finally placed them in the cool hands of the man you adored. “Take care of yourself (Y/N), I’m serious… I love you. And I’m always here.”
“I love you too, dad.”
