Chaos Magic: Asking if Something is "Okay", "Correct", or "Right"
*Disclaimer: This essay contains Unverified Personal Gnosis (UPG) thoughts and practices. What works for me may not work for thee. Any advice perceived should be taken with a grain of salt.
Going through old posts from the start of my journey, I came across one based, seemingly, on a chaos magic concept:
Don't ask yourself if something in witchcraft is "okay" or "correct" or "right". Ask yourself if it will work, what effect it will have, and whether or not it is safe. -- originally posted by a deactivated (windvexer) Tumblr account.
On one side, I can still see the original intent of the post. I can still see why I reposted it way back when.
Looking at it at face value, I can see that it is a reminder that you don't need to follow a set procedure; there are no rules; everyone practices differently. Don't ask yourself if this is how others practice if it works for you. Is it okay to do something different or untested? Is it wrong to do because others aren't doint it? Is it right to do whatever it is you plan?
Nothing should stop you when it comes to trying to do something that will better your predicament. Better lines of thinking before casting a spell would be thinking actively (such as "will happen" statements); plan for various outcomes of the spell; make sure you, others, and your surroundings remain safe during all points of the spell (casting, manifesting, after manifestation).
It's when you look at it deeper that things change; this post takes a darker meaning than originally intended.
It is important to ask if things are "okay", "correct", or "right" on a deeper level.
I've lived a very interesting life, one that has watched as the internet age truly took hold; when it started truly becoming accessible in everyday homes and life. I wrote research papers in middle school using only printed sources because the internet wasn't fully reliable yet. I watched as information became more easily shared and available. It became much easier to update the things we learned as others experienced it the same way, or in variations.
As we started to share our experiences with others in real time, it began to be known and understood that not everything was open to everyone. There are many practices that are closed to "outsiders". While some of these practices can still be researched, unless you pass an initiation, are born into a system, or whatever other way to join a group/sect, these practices are not open to be practiced by everyone.
Chaos magic utilizes a lot of... chaos, for lack of better words. It utilizes being able to deconstruct how things are done in order to use the pieces that make it up on their own, not as a whole. It allows you to cast outside of a normalized structure. It allows you to harness the natural chaos of life.
What it doesn't do is allow you to practice or take things that are closed off to you because you deem it okay to do so. It doesn't allow you to perform something because you think it is right or fair to do so, because you have the knowledge and desire to do so.
If you utilize chaos magic in your practice, in your craft, then you know that you can always alter steps or things as a way to do what needs to be done.
Think before planning. Plan before acting. Be mindful; be respectful.

🎶 Last song I listened to: "Hold Me Down" by Halsey
📼 Last series: My partner and I are currently watching the show "Soulmates" on Netflix. We've been on a "Limited Series" kick.
🎬 Last movie: rewatch of The Mummy Returns. We only got halfway through and still need to finish it. We stopped because my partner wasn't feeling well and I needed to go to work. We were having a rolling commentary the whole time.
🏅Best thing about last month: I started trying to use yeast in baking and finally got to use the ACV I made. I never want to buy it again.
📚 Currently reading: Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë (with the @pathandpractice book club); I'm also 8 chapters into Mate by Ali Hazelwood. I am also, always, in the middle of rereading The Complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
🌶 Sweet/Savory/Spicy?: I used to LOVE spicy; my stomach requires more help when I eat something that is "too" spicy. I have a pretty bad sweet tooth and will try to make Savory and/or spicy a smidge sweet, too.
🎨 Favorite color(s)?: I'm pretty basic and still love hot pinks, magenta, and black. My favorite combinations are dark and bright colors. Something about the contrast is very appealing/soothing to my brain.
☕️ Tea or coffee: I love both! I drink coffee every morning (unless my stomach is acting up, then I go for tea). I drink coffee and/or tea in the afternoon, and I drink tea into the evening. Both coffee and tea may be drunk hot or iced depending on the time of year or day. I am an equal opportunity coffee and tea consumer.
🌐 Last internet search: OOOOH!!! What a dangerous question! It could be so messy! In my case, though, it's boring. It's a search for "Mrs. Winterbourn (1996)". For my younger followers, it is a wonderful romantic comedy starring Brendan Fraser, Ricki Lake, and Shirley MacLaine. I highly recommend it. Granted, it's been about 17 years since I last watched it. So...does it still hold up? Unsure.
👀 Looking forward to: trying to deepen my understanding of planetary and celestial movements on the human body and personality. I started trying my hand at writing my own horoscopes in February and am starting to feel like I have a basic understanding and should be trying to deepen that connection and understanding.

hi, just a question, i've just started getting into witchcraft, and i'm a bit confused by some stuff in the wheel of year bc it's based on the northern hemisphere and i live in the southern hemisphere. like would i celebrate mabon in march/april when it's autumn for me? thanks in advance!
This is an excellent question that I am sure many people will appreciate:
The specific holidays associated with the wheel of the year line up with specific points of the season. When I celebrate Yule, people in the southern hemisphere will be celebrating Litha.
Here is a handy "chart" for you to use to make sure you don't get the hemisphere holidays mixed up. The northern hemisphere holidays will be on the left while their southern hemisphere associates will be on the right:
SAMHAIN ➡️ BELTANE
YULE ➡️ LITHA
IMBOLC ➡️ LAMMAS
OSTERA ➡️ MABON
BELTANE ➡️ SAMHAIN
LITHA ➡️ YULE
LAMMAS ➡️ IMBOLC
MABON ➡️ OSTERA
The date as I write this is September 20, 2020. We are gearing up for Samhain/Halloween. The southern hemisphere should be gearing up for Beltane. All that you need to remember is that each holiday goes with a specific aspect of the harvest and the seasons. Make sure you are working with YOUR area's seasons, not someone elses.
It's happened. My job's location has closed while my area works on trying to contain Covid-19, which has begun to take my county by storm. I am now out of work until they re-open the doors, which they have not said when that would be.
This being said, I am reminding everyone who views this that I sell tarot readings, pendulum readings, commissioned sigils, commissioned spell writings and performances if needed.
If you are interested in any of these services, please message me to discuss pricing and have these needs fulfilled. This money will be greatly appreciated to my family while we lose 1/3 of our income and wait to hear if we are losing more due to closures.
I also ask that you please reblog this post so that it may reach those who may be interested in any of these services.
Witchcraft is allowing your own abilities, wants, and needs to shape and contort the physical world. It is an ability that everyone is born with. Every person is able to tap into this ability - this power - and utilize it for their own gain or for the gain of others. It is neither selfish nor humble. It just is.
If everyone can be a witch, is there any kind of limit? No. Every single person can be a witch. People who are polytheistic can be witches. People who are monotheistic can be witches. People who are agnostic can be witches. People who are atheists can be witches. Christians can be witches. Satanists can be witches. Wiccans can be witches. Every single person can be a witch.
Witchcraft does not mean that you have to perform elaborate rituals or spells. It does not mean that you have to do anything that you don’t want to do. You don’t have to help everyone. You don’t have to help anyone. You can choose to help yourself only. You can choose to only help animals and nature. You can choose to help others. But you don’t have to.
It is important for everyone to know that you don’t have to do ANYTHING and you can still call yourself a witch if you believe in the power that flows through every living, breathing thing. Witchcraft can be felt in a stream flowing over rocks. Witchcraft can be felt as the wind blows through your hair. Witchcraft can be felt when you pick up a quartz or calcite crystal found in the road. Witchcraft is everywhere and the presence of it can be felt in all things.
Witchcraft is not tearing someone apart because they believe in something different than you. Witchcraft can be used for protection. It can be used to see the deeper meaning in all things. It can be used to help others or yourself.
If you curse someone, you are still a witch. If you don’t use curses or hexes, you are still a witch. If you don’t practice spells, you are still a witch. All you want to do is use magick in yoga and meditation? You can still be a witch. Don’t have all of the fancy tools that books tell you that you need? You are still a witch. You want to use things that you found in a dollar store? You are still a witch. Do you only practice spells and rituals in your daydreams? You are still a witch.
You are a witch if you say you are a witch. YOU ARE A WITCH IF YOU SAY YOU ARE A WITCH! No one can take that away from you. Your power is yours and if you want to utilize it then utilize it. Do not let anyone tell you that you are doing anything wrong. Your practice is yours. Own your craft. Own your power. A witch is only as powerful as he/she/they would like to be.
I am a witch because I chose to take on that term for my practice. My husband will refer to himself as a warlock because that is the term that he has chosen for himself. Others may find warlock to be a taboo term - they don’t agree with it. But my husband likes the term and believes that it is the proper term for him.
In witchcraft, you are what you make yourself to be. I am powerful because I want to be. My husband is powerful because he wants to be. We, witches, are powerful because we want to be. Do not let anyone take that away from you.
You are a witch if you say you are and no one can take that away from you.
So I had a crazy dream last night that I just want to post here so that I have it written down and can do some analyzing and a reading about once my husband wakes up and we turn the lights on.
This dream was 100% a mix of new dreams and past dreams. The past portion of the dream did have new aspects to them so they weren't recurring. This is the main reason why I would like to analyze them.
So it starts with Josh and I in an old-western saloon. A massive bar fight breaks out and we hop out a window in the back so as not to be caught up in the craziness. But we knew people in the fight (in dream only) and didn't know what to do. So we run a few blocks away and start walking along the side of the road, knowing full well that they will get out in no time and be perfectly fine. And we were right. They come by in their van and we hop in. They understood why we kept ourselves out of the fight and drove us to this horse farm. They didn't stay so we hopped out and away they went.
*This is where the recurring aspects come in. The place we are at is one that I have visited in my dreams multiple times. It plays a wonderful background but the dreams normally change every time. I guess my brain really likes this setting and, quite honestly, I would love to go there in real life, you know? But back to the dream!*
We start our walk towards a farm house but are called over to a field by voices we recognize. We make our way over and see the director of the daycare we used to work at and the kids in our classes (grown by the 3 years that passed) doing different activities. They were all extremely happy to see us and invited us to help (and get paid for our time) if we wanted to. *My guess about them being there is a mixture of old dreams and the fact that I had been speaking about that job just earlier that day at my new one.* We say maybe and make our way up to the farmhouse to drop off our bags since they always welcome us with open arms when we come by unannounced and make our way to the closest barn. As soon as the owners see us, they get extremely excited *no one knew we would be there* and send Josh off to work. He runs off and it's just me.
With no one around, I begin to cut myself on my forearms like I used to when I was a teen. I want to make it known that I haven't cut myself, especially near my wrists, since I was about 14 (I'm damn near 29 now). If I wanted to cut after that it was somewhere that I could hide way easier (I was a big fan of my ankles). *This part has me thrown and is one of the biggest things I want to analyze later.* The main worker I always worked with (they don't have names in my dream) comes in, pretending not to notice what I just did, and we chit-chat before she tells me that I can do whatever I want but if I want to ride, to take a specific horse because she could really use a companion right now. She shows me the new saddle that I should use and then walks out. So I say hi to the two horses that were still inside - since all of the others were outside already. The one is a filly who had just been born maybe days before and her mother who was asleep. The filly came up to me right away and was the sweetest little thing. So I gave her some affection before going outside myself.
I walk over to where my old class was to say hi and help them a little when these people come up and start threatening everyone. I go into protection mode and try to protect the kids while these two people, a man and a woman, start shouting about how everyone is going to die. They say they have a massive bomb that can level the city 50 miles out and that, if everyone doesn't comply, we are all dead, too. I try to tune them out and just try to keep the kids calm. These people leave and I usher the kids into an open barn. By open barn I mean that there are three walls standing and the back of it goes out into an open pasture and there is no roof. I'm doing everything to keep them calm but I am quickly losing my shit. The one points out to something be raised up far away. I yell for them all to come near me and lay down. When they didn't listen, I started to actually yell and scream "lay the fuck down" because something horrible was about to happen, I knew it. They listened and were huddled with me. And then there was a massive explosion from the thing that was erected in the city. It was like a nuke went off, but it didn't hit the farm or any of its land.
And then I woke up. So, while some of it already makes sense or I can think of logical reasons for aspects of it, I clearly have some analyzing to do.
