【Twisted Cyclone】
Have you been on Twisted Cyclone? (Six Flags Over Georgia)
yes and i loved it
yes and i liked it
yes but i didn't like it
no but i want to
no and i don't want to
never heard of it
Twisted Cyclone: It seems like bad things keep happening to me, as if I have bad luck or something.
Medusa Steel Coaster: Twist, you don't have bad luck. The reason bad things happen to you is because you're a dumbass.
Mind Bender: Twisted, can you pick up some milk?
Twisted Cyclone: Yeah, it’s pretty easy.
Mind Bender: I meant from the store.
Twisted Cyclone: I would imagine it weighs the same there, too.
Georgia Scorcher: Wow, Twist, you’re a genius!
Twisted Cyclone: Yeah, I get called that a lot.
Georgia Scorcher: What, a genius?
Twisted Cyclone: No, “Twist”.
Went to Six Flags over Georgia today. About a third of the coasters were down due to flood damage/repaints/whatever the heck is going on with Kid Flash, but I still have a lot of good things to say.
The Good
The park atmosphere is actually… pretty nice? The whole Six Flags feels surprisingly wooded, with a few superhero areas that have a surprisingly thought-out aesthetic (I’ve never seen fog on a Batman clone before.) This doesn’t quite feel like a corporate park on the ground, and that’s a good thing.
The park’s layout is confusing but it separates each area very well - Metropolis might as well be in a different zip code from everything else. The hills work incredibly well in making exploring each new area feel like an accomplishment (in a good way!) They could absolutely turn this into an Orlando-caliber park if they really wanted to.
The coaster lineup is very respectable, at least on paper (more on that later). Headlining one-two punch in Twisted Cyclone and Goliath as well as a deep supporting cast. Mindbender and the original Ultimate Flight are must-rides for what they represent, and Georgia Scorcher is quickly becoming one as well.
I had an absolutely delectable spinach artichoke grill cheese. Never in a million years would I have expected to find something so specialized and so tasty at a Six Flags.
Twisted Cyclone is a Top 3 coaster for me and clearly the best hybrid coaster in America. Flawless hill shaping for maximum air, whippy inversions, perfect pacing (and length, fight me), and an unforgettable wave overbank that turns you horizontal more dramatically than any other element I’ve ever seen.
This park has a great pair of dark rides in Monster Mansion and Justice League. Certainly an upgrade from the Ghost Blaster slop you see at most regional parks.
The Bad
The flat ride lineup needs more of a kick. There’s four thrill flats, which is a little low for a park of this size, and barely more family flats, which is genuinely unbelievable. Not even a Ferris Wheel.
Ride ops were iffy. Pandemonium went down and had LOTS of slow dispatches and Scorcher was only running one train.
The Ugly
The kiddie areas are low-key trash and there’s only two non-thrill coasters. Since Six Flags has the rights to Peanuts now, we need a Planet Snoopy summoning circle. Kid Flash was a good idea, but is kill now. Would have loved to try it…
Why is Goliath being repainted with near-identical colors to fucking Blue Hawk? You just know people will get their wires crossed now.
Overall, this is a really good and charming Six Flags that feels like it was built out with a lot of thought. I hope the coming years are good to this place.
