As far as Twisted episodes go, this one was a decent one. In fact, I don’t remember ever liking one as much as this one other than the Pilot (I’m a very hard person to please, in case you’ve read earlier reviews), and the Pilot wasn’t even that earth shattering anyway. But after a few episodes that failed miserably to cover ground, this one did a rather nice job of it. For one, almost every plot thread that was addressed came crashing into each other in one consecutive episode. And every word spoken did more to advance the plot. I guess the writers realized they have a season finale coming up and decided to start setting the stage.
Despite prominently featuring or starring people of color, many television shows (such as Twisted) still view their narratives through white eyes.
Jo and Lacey meet with Danny at McNally Park, where they steamroll past his attempt at an apology for the secrecy and grill him about who would have possibly planted the necklace in his locker (if it was planted at all). While Lacey is the most upset, even insinuating that Danny might have killed Regina after all, Jo thinks that he had so many chances to come clean about having the necklace and the fact that he didn't makes him look guilty. As the two leave without resolving anything with their friend, Jo looks back and sees Danny looking extremely concerned about having to face the case against him by himself...
Several weeks ago a masked figure stood outside of Danny's window filming him and Lacey making out on a living room couch. It was just after the disastrous party Danny had thrown, which was interrupted by a crowd of boys wearing masks with his face on them, re-enacting the murder of his aunt just where it had happened five years earlier. At the time it seemed like just another part of whatever sinister plot has been tightening its noose around Danny's neck since the season began, framing him for Regina's murder and the poisoning of his soccer teammate, Cole...
Episode 10 of Twisted, “Poison of Interest” was all about speaking up. Some of our characters handled the task of speaking up rather admirably. Rico, for instance, wasted no time letting Lacey know that there was a video of her hooking up with Danny hovering somewhere in the Green Grove High School ether. Jo, on the other hand, managed to speak up when called to the plate, but spoke maybe a bit too much. So much for the secret of her feelings for Danny, but at least she didn’t accuse the most recent Green Grove murder subject of being a whore in front of the rest of the town like Karen Desai.
Sounds like a juicy episode, right? Let’s jump in.
While Karen is being held due to her confession on Twisted, Lacey’s father is in town and Rico receives an anonymous e-mail that could potentially be damaging.
On this week’s episode of Twisted, Danny threw a party, pranks were pulled and someone admitted to murder.
