#twitter is hell

I debated posting this on Twitter; but decided instead to post it here. The person this is about is symptomatic of a larger problem in the Byler fandom right now, and it's clear that they don't care—so I'm using this as a way to raise awareness here instead.

This behavior is a sign of very deep unwellness and obsessiveness.

You really have the full package here. Hate, death threats, and a particular behavior that really disturbs me: hunting down and saving Noah Schnapp's baby pictures to be used as profile pictures or for head canons about Will while posting said hate and death threats about Noah Schnapp.

This is a single account. It is far from the only account that does this on Twitter (and on tumblr frankly). But it's becoming increasingly more common and it's high time more people started pointing out how obsessive and creepy it is.

Here's another example of TWO accounts—one who just hates Noah and the other who says no one should support him because he's "genocidal"—posting and retweeting respectively his baby pictures:

It would be odd behavior even without the hateful element. With it, though, it is flat out creepy. If you are someone who "does not support" Noah Schnapp and thinks he is evil—what business do you have stealing family photos and baby pictures of his to use for content? Do you not understand how many boundaries that crosses? How would you feel about people who hate you rummaging through your family's socials, screenshotting pictures of you, and posting it all over their socials?

If you have a Twitter account, I strongly encourage you to report tweets and accounts that do this (especially the death threats); and block them. These people have no place in the Byler community and give it a bad name.

My opinion on the current Shadowvanilla Drama situation:

No Fount of Knowledge wasn't talking or meeting Pure Vanilla Cookie as a child... it wouldn't even make sense for Pure Vanilla Cookie to even be there in the first place. Cause the ancients weren't around at that time.

It was technically a vision of the future where Fount is probably gonna learn that he's gonna be replaced by someone else as the cookie of Knowledge. Leading to him thinking that he's not good enough for the witches or any good at what he does which will end to him corrupting into Shadow Milk Cookie.

What I'm disgusted of seeing is people calling Shadow Milk Cookie a p3d0ph1l3 all because he was standing next to a child... are we fr rn? What braincell in you're head made you immediately think that?! You are absolutely disgusting for acussing something like that. I swear to god... Twitter is hell.

Twitter got all up in a tizzy yesterday about Hades 2 Odysseus and his relationship with Penelope. I had some thoughts (ss are from my priv account. Please dm me on here before sending a twt request) (first two images are one thread. The rest are a second)

Yes, I am fully aware of the whole “Odysseus is a victim” thing. Not ignoring that at all. But there are plenty of adaptations that have Odysseus willingly sleep with Circe and Calypso. At the end of the day, it is a single adaptation.

I get it’s upsetting to have your favorite fictional couple not be together but the Telegony also exists and whether you like it or not, is an actual source. Homer did not magically create Iliad and Odyssey one day. These were oral traditions that had existed long before Homer’s time. He was just the first to write them down.

The thing about greek mythology is that there are so many different interpretations. These stories are meant to be told over and over again and are supposed to change to reflect the current culture. You can have any opinion you want on modern adaptations, not forcing you to like any of them. Immediately equating something as bad because it changed something about your favorite 40 year old war criminal instead of looking at the bigger story is, in my opinion, really stupid.

Hades II is not about Odysseus. It is about Melionë learning witchcraft and trying to rescue her family from Chronos. Who knows maybe Mel will take after her brother and play matchmaker when launch happens. The game isn’t finished yet.

It is not the end of the world. Supergiant has taken so many creative liberties with both games. The games are not changing the Greek myth canon. They are games made by a small indie game company made up of 16 people. You will live. You can decide for yourself whether you want to play the games or not.

TLDR: greekmythtwt is really getting on my nerves.
