The return of the detective time lord and her companions!

Finally got the chance to draw their new designs (or at least humanized versions of them).

This is sort of a continuation of this post I did for this au with the season two designs. I just love the idea of doctor!Jancy with the with the Drawtectives as her companions.

Y'know all the snake and rat imagery in the trailer for s3? What if Newgene over here IS the snake and he's pretending to be Eugene.

Furthermore, what if he did the murder.

If he represents a snake, and snakes eat rats, what if he murdered a "rat". What if someone ratted him out (revealed his identity), and so he killed them.

the main reason i think this guy isnt eugene is that i don't believe julia would willingly make a character with black hair blonde. she loves drawing dark haired men too much, i call clone.

Okay since 2Gene isn't actually canon and was instead a Julia Goof imma make my own:

Janus Finch was Eugene's twin brother. They were born into a wealthy family. Janus, as a well-mannered outgoing boy, was the clear favorite over his brother, who tended to stay inside reading books all day with his "imaginary friends". Janus ended up getting most of the attention and expectations from their parents and grew an ego as a result, while Eugene was left to his own devices.

But when they were teenagers, Janus (probably along with a bunch of other rich kids doing stupid stuff) got into a terrible accident and was killed. His parents were devastated. Eugene, desperate to help somehow, consulted the occult books he had been reading and attempted his first seance...and it worked too well.

His brother's ghost, confused and unable to accept his death, turned violent. The Finch family had to evacuate their house and go through several exorcisms before Janus was banished. The fact that Eugene was able to summon a spirit at such a young age with no prior training caught the attention of many in the business and helped kickstart his career, but it came at the expense of a massive estrangement between him and his parents that has never been settled.

In conclusion: this part of why Eugene wants to help unsettled newly dead spirits cross peacefully (his brother never got the chance and he blames himself for that).

Also further headcanon is that a young Emery was part of the hooligan rich boy gang and witnessed the accident and it mentally hecked him up but he lied about being there and so never processed it properly which double hecked him up (obviously does not excuse murder I just like tying stuff together).

Idk if they've used the name Janus somewhere else already, sorry my brain just settled on Janus and refused to move so I didn't even check lol.
