How did the Heartslabyul crew even decide to join Yuu on the Night Raven? Like- after they somehow led to the end of Riddle's dictatorship, what led to everyone deciding to travel space with a mysterious alien named Yuu?
Also, are there any language barriers? Based on the comics and stuff there doesn't seem to be any problems with communication, so do they use translators or something?

since Riddle was an evil tyrant over an entire galaxy, when he was defeated the residents of the galaxy were INCREDIBLY mad at him and Crimson City was rapidly shutting down as people started either jumping on spaceships to escape or rioting to find him and fight the remaining Heartslabyul army.
the Night Raven was their closest (and one of their last) means of escape so they… yknow jumped on last second.
the crew aboard couldn’t exactly kick them off (by this point Yuu and co have heard Riddles tragic backstory, and would probably vouch for him, Trey and Cater) much to Crowley’s dismay. own up to the space outlaw shtick crow man!! 🐦⬛🐦⬛
this all leads to them joining the crew :)
as for the language barrier question, in order to properly engage in interstellar communication, there’s gotta be an interstellar communication system!!
since humans aren’t a registered species, Yuu’s com wouldn’t have whatever language they speak. the good news is that the translators are extremely adaptable! so the more Yuu speaks and is spoken to, the easier is it for them to communicate. the bad news is that it wouldn’t be super effective until around the end of book 2-ish. unfortunately ☝️ Yuu’s hack job com doesn’t account for reading and writing, which means they’re almost entirely illiterate. zeep zorp

My favorite (and first twst oc) is definitely Maeve! She's so fun to draw, and she overall has such a fun and silly personality (I would love to do some comics with her in the future, she's a menace and she knows it!)
And the one who was the biggest pain in the butt to design is Veer! (Congrats you lil prick and your weird a$$ color palette!) And he's also the latest addition to my ocs!

I imagine the way Reader always supports Yuu indirectly, Reader is brave enough to scare the students who bully Yuu but never brave enough to admit they help Yuu. Of course Reader has a pretty close relationship with Grim because they know where Grim likes to pet

When I first started writing for TWST, I didn't really understand Yuu until more of the manga, game and novel started appearing through translation scans.
Yuu (In game) is who I mostly write for since Yuus in Manga are always changing. But are all still amazing.
Though, I'd liks to think each Yuu still has a (Y/N) becuase there always gonna have a Grim, so why not a bestie too?
