i do love xfiles personally because of the story and the charatcers and the dana and the mulder whatever but bigger than that i love this nerd show because of the mental damage I can inflict upon my peers when talking about this show.

I bee telling my friends oh yah and then she ran into his room stripped down and he got a breathe away from her bare ass with a candle to inspect some moles or whatever and they'll go wow how late does that happen and i get to smile like a freak and go...episode 1 season 1.

my friends hate to see me come round cause whatever I'm going to say will be followed with 'mind you they are just friends' and ill have to play dodgeball with the projectiles being hurled my way.

"yah they were trapped in a room together and had to caress each others' skin to check for the bubonic plague and then get really close to each others faces before solving the mystery....mind you next episode mulder hangs out with his ex girlfriend oh and also THEY ARE COLLEAGUES".

BOOM someone is throwing a chair at me this show is so amazing.

okay i just rewatched the pilot clip where mulder and scully first meet ✨FOR SCIENCE✨ (to confirm a minor throwaway detail in a fic i'm working on, why am i like this) and

mulder is such a dork (affectionate) lol, like,,,,

this is the early 90s, before google. scully has only found out she's being assigned to the x-files literal minutes before she meets mulder. we see her getting the assignment. they tell her to contact him shortly, then it cuts to her going to find him.

mulder probably has his ways of getting early information within the bureau but he can't have known about this for too long, and yet he has procured her senior thesis (!!! - again, this would have been much harder to do than it is now and i feel that the lone gunmen may have helped with this), read it, and - and i cannot emphasize this enough - prepared a slideshow. his whole initial encounter with her gives the impression that he rehearsed it in the mirror, many times. mulder, basically: ":gleefully turns off lights: hey dr. scully, think you know SKIN CONDITIONS!? :clicks to next slide: think you know CHEMISTRY?!? :clicks to next slide: here are several more bodies!!!! in various locations!!!!! :click click click: this is where i will confront you about bureau policy on unexplained phenomena, which is definitely above your pay grade! :sardonic stage whisper: do you believe in 👽ALIUMS👽??? :ironic chuckle: Of course you don't! :jumps on table, not actually but spiritually: NOW WE WILL HAVE HEATED DISCOURSE ABOUT WHAT IS FANTASTIC!!!!! couple's trip to oregon, scully, btw we are married now, see you tomorrow morning!"

I Showed My Camp Roommate the First 2 X-Files Episodes

For context, my roommate is an ESL speaker and has enough going on keeping up with the plot. As a result, she hasn’t quite caught on to Mulder and Scully’s names, so she just refers to them as “the woman” and “the guy.”

Me: So what do you think?

My Roommate: I really like the woman. She has a cool vibe.

Me: Yeah, she’s awesome. I love them both, though.

My Roommate: But I would be so annoyed if he just ran away and, like, didn’t tell me where he was going!

Me: (Having just finished End Game, knowing this will be a repeated occurrence) Yeah, I guess that’s pretty annoying.

My Roommate: But doesn’t she have to rescue him, like, all the time?

Me: (Is currently in S2 aka the season of Scully kidnappings) Actually, the ratio is pretty even. (Decides not to rant about S2 even though I want to).

My Roommate: But how?! I can’t imagine her ever doing anything that dumb.

Me: *Explains that every time Mulder is in trouble he’s done something stupid and every time Scully is in trouble it’s not her fault at all*

My Roommate: Well, I guess I could see her maybe getting into trouble if she has to do something stupid to save his butt.

Me: *Dies laughing at the accuracy of the conversation*
