Michael enjoyed Christmas, but every year there was the issue of family pestering him when he was single. He'd managed to get out of Christmas dinner this year by pretending that there was something going on at work instead, and he was pretty proud of himself for dodging that bullet. He was preparing himself for a good night with maybe Ray, Gavin, and whoever else could come, when he ended up caught up in an entirely different Christmas do.

Playing Lindsay's fake boyfriend was more than a little bizarre. He'd somehow ended up driving them there as well, and it was only when they were nearby that he realised he didn't have very many details about the evening.

"Linds," he said, glancing over at her. Michael slowed the car as they reached a red light, giving him more time to actually meet her gaze. "What's actually gonna happen tonight? Like, what's the schedule here? And how couple-y do we have to be to make this convincing?"
