It was a stupid move. Michael had everything under control, he had this fight in the fucking bag, and Gavin just had to throw himself in the way. One more jab of his diamond sword and the Enderman would be down, and they could all rest peacefully knowing Achievement City wasn’t going to be attacked during the night. He had no idea what had gotten the idea into Gavin’s head, but regardless, it wasn’t going to help anything now.
The Enderman vanished in a shower of purple sparks once it had struck Gavin, taking Michael’s distraction as its chance to escape. Michael’s sword fell to the grass with a soft thump, and he dropped to his knees next to Gavin, dragging him into his lap. “You fucking idiot,” he hissed. “What the fuck were you thinking?”
From Gavin’s position on the sidelines, it was very clear that his friend definitely did not have this fight in the fucking bag. The Endermen was getting closer and closer to Michael with each hit, until the boy was nearly within an arm’s reach of the monster, though he was too into the fight to notice himself. Mogar would be hit if he didn’t do something, and fast.
Gavin pushed off the wall he’d been leaning against, dashing forward and slipping himself between the Enderman and Michael. Before he knew what was happening, the boy was on his back, pain shooting up from his stomach, and then suddenly, he was being pulled into Michael’s lap. Before answering the question being thrown at him, he reach down, placing a hand against the wound, pulling it away to discover it was sticky and stained red with blood. “–Y-you…you were gonna get hurt.”
Stupid, Gavin was stupid. Michael brushed his hand aside and pressed down on the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. If it came to it, he'd have to steal Gavin's scarf to bind it until they could get him back to his house. It'd only be a short way, but it'd be painful nonetheless. Regardless, he had to get him there, he had to get Geoff, he had to find someone who could fucking fix Gavin and stop him from bleeding out here in the dirt.
"I was fine," he hissed, frustrated. "I had it, Gav, I was one hit away from killing it. You didn't need to jump in. Jesus." He did reach up then, gently sliding the scarf away from Gavin's neck so he could put it under his hand, using it to stem the bleeding a little. His hand was already stained red, though he tried to ignore that.

God, what a dick. Geoff deserved better than this honestly. He let out a over-dramatic sigh, pulling the puppies from his face and setting them both on the floor. Hopefully the two of them wouldn’t run into furniture too much or knock anything over. It wasn’t going to happen, but Geoff could dream. Still, he leaned into Michael’s touch, keeping his eye on the two of them while pulling out his phone.
“We should take them outback- there’s more room and it’ll be less of a mess. We can get them started on some training, too.” But Geoff made no move to pull himself from Michael’s lap.
"They just got here, Geoff. Let 'em have some fun and get used to the place first." We can start training them tomorrow. They're babies." Michael stretched his other arm out across the back of the couch, and continued to pet Geoff's hair with the other. He watched the puppies scamper around the floor, Banjo deciding he wanted to try and catch Olympus' tail.
Michael smiled warmly, feeling content in a way that didn't often happen when he was worrying about just which crime lord was going to try and worm their way into their lives next. The puppies were family, and extra protection - just what they needed.

“But you did marry me.” Geoff was too proud of that one. He leaned back to let the puppy- Olympus attempt to climb onto his shoulders. “Why did you name a dog after a fictional bear? Olympu-” And, of course, Olympus took his chance balanced on the back of the couch and Geoff’s shoulder to chew on Geoff’s hair. “Fuckin’-” Geoff leaned to try to detach Olympus from his hair, only for the dumb pup to jump on his chest and knock Geoff into Michael’s lap.
Olympus had no qualms in walking over Geoff face for his opportunity to bark at Banjo and nip at his neck. So, this was how this was gonna go. Fighting already.
Michael had no sympathy for Geoff after Olympus, the tiny pup that he was, managed to knock his husband down. If he insulted the name he'd chosen for his dog, he deserved to be tackled. He started laughing, not even bothering to answer Geoff, while Banjo took the chance to leap at Olympus, eagerly tumbling into him to initiate a play fight. With his hands vacated, Michael let one drop to Geoff's hair to pet it instead, idly.
"You know that game's one of my favourites, shut up. Now you've got puppies on your face, and I'm not helping you move them, 'cause you're an asshole." He gave Geoff's hair a gentle, playful tug. "I married you, sure, but you're still a dick."

Always fucking rushing him. Christ. Like the good husband he was, though, he did as he was told, hard as it was so balance the pup in his lap and rustle around in the bag from the pet store. “Cereberus is good. I like that. Maybe something more classy? My dog is classy.” Geoff held his pup’s face to make eye contact, as if he might be able to gain some other worldly knowledge from behind the dog’s eyes. Turns out. “Olympus. His name’s gonna be Olympus.” And with that, Geoff tugged the collar on- his own kind of christening.
"I married a fuckin' snob," Michael teased lightly as he took the collar. He slipped it around Banjo's neck, clipping it into place and then leaning down to kiss the top of the puppy's head. He received a few eager licks to his chin and cheeks for it, and he happily tickled the pup's sides through it, not even minding that he ended up covered in dog slobber. "Olympus," Michael repeated, glancing up at him with a raised eyebrow. "And you thought I was dumb for naming mine Banjo."

Geoff barely even registered Michael’s question, all too occupied in pressing kisses to the puppy’s head. He shook his head though, this time pecking Michael’s cheek. “Dunno. I don’t want him to have a terrible name like Banjo, that’s for sure. Something that’s gonna strike fear into the heart of my enemies.” God, Geoff. Not even he could take himself serious. There was a small laugh before Geoff shifted to accomodate the wriggling pup in his arms.
A run out back would be good for them, but they also needed to get used to being in the house. Either way, Geoff wanted to get started on training the two of them som basic commands, so that meant collars and treats. Sounded oddly like a good night in the Ramsey-Jones household even before they got the dogs. Geoff picked the bag back up and headed toward the sofa, pup settling in his arms again.
"What, are you gonna call him Cerberus?" Michael snorted, and he nuzzled the top of Banjo's head affectionately. Guard dog or not, any intruders weren't going to know the names of their dogs unless they'd found out beforehand; they'd be more focused on the fact that they were no doubt trained to protect their owners, surely.
Michael joined him on the sofa, sitting down with Banjo wriggling in his lap. He petted along the puppy's sides, beaming down at him like a proud parent. "Dude, pass me his collar already, I wanna put it on him. He needs to look at least a little professional."

It was hard enough carrying a puppy the size of a toddler, let alone a large bag of toys for the both of them. Michael was fucking lucky he got the smaller one, and how somehow convinced Geoff to take the bag. Even with the bit of frustation that presented itself when he was hurried along, Geoff couldn’t bring himself to think about anything but this gorgeous Tibetan Mastiff in his arms.
He seemed to be a lot less restless than Michael’s, but a lot fucking heavier. God, he could only imagine how big in a few months. But Geoff shuffled inside, careful to keep his puppy from nipping at Michael as he passed through the doorway. He set the bag down beside the doorway, finally getting his full attention on this ball of fluff. Cute as he was, this dog could probably kill a man. With luck, he’d get that training.
Michael had already turned back to his own puppy once the door was shut, letting Banjo chew on his fingers since it seemed to be one of the few things that would make the pup sit still for the moment. He'd tucked his nose into the fur on top of his head, taking in the new puppy smell lingering on him. And while he was smaller than Geoff's dog, Michael had no doubt that Banjo would be able to hold his own from what he'd seen of him in terms of the energy his tiny body contained.
"Decided on a name yet?" Michael asked Geoff, raising his head a little and peeking at him over Banjo's ears. He wanted to get Banjo's collar out of the bag and try it on him, but he'd wait until they were properly indoors and settled down first for that.

It had taken far too long to actually get the dogs, in Michael's opinion. The idea had been hanging around for a while, but it had just never actually happened until now; they didn't have the stuff for them before, Michael didn't feel like he could handle the responsibility yet, Geoff didn't want to put strain on their relationship.
But now it had finally happened. Michael struggled to hold onto the squirming bundle in his arms as he tried to hold the door open for Geoff with his hip. The tiny Gordon Setter pup yipped, pawing at Michael's forearms as he tried to get to the ground. "Hurry the fuck up, Geoff," Michael huffed, almost sounding like he was complaining, but he was grinning too much that he couldn't really fake being irritated.
