1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?
Oh, welll I really, really love ‘Sirius comes back from the Veil” stories and I wanted to explore what might happen if canon with Tonks and Remus had chugged along the same, only Sirius came back. The idea of the wolf having this primal attachment to Sirius that Remus doesn’t want to acknowledge, or wants to try and separate himself as the ‘man’ from, really interests, as does looking at all the ways Remus is so externally buttoned up and underneath is a lot of different things. Not to say I find him duplicitous as a character, at all, but I think he could be someone who pushed a lot of the things he feels in this series into the category of “that’s animal, thats wolf, that’s not me, I am more controlled than that” and compartmentalised, and of course Sirius just fucks with this system completely.
Sirius coming back from essentially the dead, and finding has moved on, or tried to, and genuinely loves Tonks but has this pull towards Sirius, was really interesting and abit heart wrenching to me, as well as really fertile ground for Sirius pushing Remus’s buttons. I love both of these characters and I love all their flawed and ugly bits as much as I love the good, and this whole series was really, really interesting for me to write because of this. I think it
2: What scene did you first put down?
Oh, well for this series I actually wrote the first part in one day as part of a challenge for the HP_Infidelity community on Livejournal. I hadn’t written Remus/Sirius before but they are one of my all time HP ships, and I think because of that I had sort of put them on a pedestal of “oh no, I can’t try and write them” and telling myself it would be too hard, but I really wanted to try. Sitting down with this idea and just going for it and not letting myself second guess it at all was really, really good for getting past that, and the whole story just flowed really easily and I love when that happens, it is a golden moment!
11: What do you like best about this fic?
I think, of all four parts of this, I liked part three, and seeing Tonks and Sirius interact. I found that whole scene very thrilling and also painful, and a bit cathartic to write, given the situation I had plonked these characters in. I felt really happy about how it turned out, and I still do I think, and I really wanted to give Tonks her own full chapter rather than relegate her to this woman in the background, as Remus really does love her and Sirius just….didnt stay dead.
I also liked the response and the level of interaction with readers and commenters SO much, it was really brilliant. It definitely kept me invested in the storyline and there honestly would not have been more than one part of this story if people hadn’t been so encouraging and suggesting they’d like to read more, as I had never really done a series before this. But, I’m always flying by the seat of my pants, it really does not take much to get me to do something LOL I am very excitable.
